There's now a method of running Dreamcast CD-Rs on an HKT-01 Sega Dreamcast Development Box. By using DC-Load-Serial, it is possible to upload the 1ST_READ.BIN file of the Utopia Boot CD, booting the game disc. This method currently works only on non-selfboot CD-Rs.

    Thanks -=FamilyGuy=- & |darc|!

    Materials Needed:
A High Density DB 50-Pin (Clip Type) SCSI cable
An 50-pin SCSI PCI card (Adaptec AHA-2940 Ultra)
    An RS-232 DB-9 serial cable
    Katana SDK - Release 10.1
Two High Density DB 50-Pin (Clip Type) active terminators

    ==================================================
    Step 1:
Follow these steps to get DC-Load-Serial running on your Development Box, found here:
    http://forums.segakatana.com/viewtopic.php?t=304

    Step 2:
Make sure you have switched it to GD-ROM Mode after booting dc-load.

    Step 3:
Insert the non-selfboot CD-R game you would like to boot into the GD-ROM tray.

    Step 4:
Now, download the Utopia Boot CD (use Google).

    Step 5:
Extract the 1ST_READ.BIN file to any folder.

    Step 6:
Make sure the 'Config' menu of DC-Tool GUI is set to 'DC-Tool Serial' & 'Upload and Execute.'

    Step 7:
Browse for the 1ST_READ.BIN file of the Utopia Boot CD.

    Step 8:
Click 'Upload and Execute' and the Utopia Boot CD should then boot on the development box, loading the non-selfboot CD-R.
