this is the situation. I was very disappointed with the idea of Time Crisis 4 and the GunCon 3. I figured that it was backwards compatible with the older games (as was GunCon2) but I figured wrong. (bastards...) Now, I remember hearing about a special gun made especially for HDTV (I think I've seen it at Fry's Electronics). That's cool and all, but can it work with PS3? Is it going to be an issue similar to that of older Guitar Heroes (ie: the system wont recognize the accessories?) If it helps, I have a 30 inch Samsung HDTV CRT using HDMI. Thanks
To the best of my knowledge, the only gun that gets recognized and functions with the PS3 is the Guncon 3. Unfortunately, it only works with TC4 (which is fun by itself). Currently, there is no way to play any of the PS2 gun games on the PS3 using any lightgun hardware. :crying:
There are a couple of Lightguns that can be used on a HDTV, one of which springs to mind is calle the 'Topgun' and is a wireless gun Basically you put sensor bars either side of the TV for calibration (similar to the wii sensorbar) Ive never tried one myself but the reviews of them are pretty good, and they have the added bonus of working on PS2, XBOX and PC (for mame use etc.) Only downside to them is the cost, cheapest i have seen them for is between £30-40 Hope that helps! DD
The Topgun LCD is far from wireless, unless they came out with a new version. The problem is, nothing besides the Guncon 3 works with the PS3.
Shouldn't the GunCon 2 work on the PS3 for PS2 games when playing them on a regular 480i TV? If it doesn't that is pretty shitty. But then again lightgun games have been largely ignored with the change to thinks like LCD and HDTVs.
It has something to do with the way hd tvs and lcd display their signal. Thats why time crisis 4 guncon comes with a sensor bar.
I know that. For one LCDs don't work because Lightguns work because of the way CRTs emit/beam light outward. LCDs just sort of illuminate themselves. That also makes them easier on the eyes. CRT HDTVs don't work because their scan rate isn't what the lightgun expects I believe. Or maybe it could be the way they are drawing the picture is different. But lightguns depend on your standard 480i type CRT. But I don't see why a PS2 lightgun game wouldn't work if you plugged in a PS2 guncon2 in the USB port and played it in 480i. I would think it should work, atleast if you have the 20GB or 60GB ps3.
