I was sorting through a stack of video games in a warehouse earlier and ran into this: It was strange for 2 reasons: 1.) I've never seen an original Xbox game advertise itself as a cross-compatible title (excluding those Burger King games that had 360 cover art despite only saying 'Xbox') 2.) People are still buying Xbox games... Brand new and sealed! Same goes for PS2, PSP, 10 year-old DS games and hit or miss Wii games that I haven't heard about since 2007... All in bulk. This seems to have been re-branded a few months after Halo 3 came out. Question is, are there any more re-branded Platinum Hits like this or was it just an odd one-time exception for Halo 2?
I'd assume this copy came out in late 05 early 06 when the 360 was just released and the xbox was still widely used. Perhaps all the backwards compatible games have covers like this? Found another one like it http://www.ebay.com/itm/XBOX-360-Li...ts-Edition-Video-Game-NO-Manual-/301423885843 Hrmm, nope, has 360 up on the top.... Found a Halo 2 match, with a Best Buy sticker on it http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-box-360-h...bled-mature-17-game-2011-Fighti-/251740259252
If after Halo 3 it's the second to last standard USA Xbox game. Madden 08, Halo 2 platinum, then Madden 09.
Yes, the Japanese only "Halo History Pack" advertised itself as compatible with the Xbox 360, as well as actually advertising the Halo 3 Beta. A compatibility disc for the 360 was also included, check out Hex's post about it here: http://hexigon.blogspot.jp/2012/12/xbox-halo-history-pack-has-arrived.html?m=1 -Chief
Dreamfall is also another game that had an official sticker on the front saying it was compatible. Microsoft sent out these stickers afaik.
Mainly a pressed version of the update you could burn to a CD-ROM on their site. It's been dumped here on the forums by me in the downloads section.
So then we have up to 3 unique releases (6 counting the BK games) advertising the same exact thing in different ways. HEX, every source that isn't eBay is yours in this thread (cool man). What region advertised Dreamfall in such a way? Back when people still cared about backwards compatibility, I remember going into shops and seeing stickers from the retailer (FYE in this example) advertising GBA, Gamecube and PS2 games as "Plays on DS/Wii/PS3".
I could remember Halo and Halo 2 being sold in stores well after Xbox was discontinued, I could only remember Halo 2 having the rebranding on it saying that it worked on 360. The Burger King games however are a bit of a different animal. The disc actually has a version of the game for original Xbox (default.xbe, with assets) and a version for Xbox 360 (default.xex with HD assets). So unlike what many people seam to think its not a backwards compatability thing. They did it in this way so if you didn't have the hdd needed for BC you could still play the games, plus you get the 720p resolution and texture bump on 360.
UK had the Xbox 360 sticker on Dreamfall. Might of been certain retailers, I'm sure many just didn't bother.
