I've repaired piles of psx in the past
Simply i never needeed touch bias\gain value because that value must remain the same.
Makes absolutely no sense play and try to adapt those values with a drive that barely worn and read cdr.

So put XX V on bias because with my psx i can read X disk on my shitty drive doesen't absolute any sense.Because they vary on the Type of drive and the support used.

Also some values are totaly wrong.
    An example?
11.5 mV its' completely wrong value. If you use a BAM laser and put that value you say goodbye to your diode.

and yet you provide no facts for anything you say, just that you know it's wrong.
i've repaired a lot of ps1's too and touching the gain is by far the fastest way to get rid of that repeatitive clicking old lasers start doing when they cant read disks properly anymore.
it's also by far cheaper than replacing an othervise just fine laser for no reason.

    each to their own though.

either way, since OP's ps1 doesnt have the adjust trimmers present, this whole thing is irrelevant to the matter at hand, my apologies for derailing.

I don't need to prove anything, read service manual next time if you want a fine, correct and a durature regolation. Because you NEED an oscilloscope not a multimeter with guessed values.

Also i'm sure other more skilled people can confirm.

P.S scph 100x seriesmunt two revision of lasers, and thet guide it's based on the old acm ver.

well, i posted a quide that i assume the writer wrote because he got good results with it, and so did i, along with a pile of other people who i know to have tried.

you march in here saying it's wrong, based on what ?
you even said you've never tried it, so how exactly do you know it's bad or doesnt work ?

post something concrete to prove it's bad like you say and believe you, until then,
take your high and mighty pro attitude off my face please. i'ts not like i've never repaired a ps1 either.

and yes, i know you need an oscilloscope for really accurate calibrating, but that doesnt mean you cant do it via other means to gain maybe not so good but still satisfactory results.

Again, serach for the service manual because we can reply always with the same thing. Or you and the writer can see waweform (distorsion for example) with a multimeter ?
That tipe of regolation can work only for short "period", because all value are simply guessed, and for example, you can over-power your laser :p

EVERY model have unique settings, it' impossible that all model have the same settings. They are approsimated values that can "apparently" work.
