My old original model PS, whenever I put a disc in gives me a message "Please Insert Disc", the disc will spin but the laser doesn't move. I'll get pictures ASAP. But does anyone have any suggestions for this?

I know my consoles have problems.

Oh and I hear something rattling in it, don't know what that is yet.

You can adjust the pots on it I believe.

    Does it work upside down?

Well I got the PSone but I want my original PS to work. Also it says insert disc when on the feet but when I turn it to the side a menu will open. Upside down brings the menu too.

I did find a place to order a replacement KSM 440ACM laser.

If you hear the tic tic tic of the laser, you can just rebuild the slide rail.

And as I discovered you can swap in a PSOne 101's laser assembly into a SCPH1001 with a few minor cuts to the inner casing and it works splendidly! Not sure if it works with other revisions (I would assume it would based on the fact the 1001 is the original US release) but the laser ribbon length varies depending on the model of Playstation you're using. The 1001 and 101 just happened to be the same length.

The modchip was swapped between the 101 and 1001 as well, just took a while to figure out what wiring diagram to use with whatever code is on the PIC.

Yeah but I don't want to possibly damage the casing on mine, plus my PSOne isn't wanting to open.

You're going to have a hard time replacing your broken laser if you don't want to open the case.

I don't want to modify it, I've opened it plenty. Lot's of dust.

I wouldn't swap the laser out until having tried everything suggested.

    Check under the warranty sticker.

well if its full of dust just get a can of air or maybe an air compressor with the ball fill tip and blow the dust out

it works wonders specifically if you have the please insert playstashion format disk message

Well the laser doesn't move at all the disc just spins. I also ran out of duster, so I'll have to pick some up today.

Silly question, but have you tried just cleaning the laser eye with some Isopropyl alcohol on a cotton bud or similar? Your problem may be something as simple as dirt/dust build up on the lens.

Not to be rude or anything but I did mention the laser doesn't move. But yes I have tried and to no avail.

I wouldn't think you were being rude. In my experience I've had 'Stations in the past where the laser wouldn't move simply because the lens was dirty, no pickup meant no movement.
