That thing is a pretty cool collectable.

As Karsten said though, useless considering you can do this with the PSX itself anyway.

But at that price I would buy it anyway.....

Wasn't there a similar device with a floppy drive/serial port which allowed save files to be backed up?

That was the DexDrive. There was also an N64 version of it I believe.

Looking at the picture, it seems to have some kind of covered input/output port. Maybe there's some serial or parallel port...

Anyway, maybe this machine was intended to be sold to console rental shops, to copy the contents from one memory card to another without needing to start up a PSX to do it. It seems pretty useless anyway...

It was quite useful back then actually. A lot of videogaming specific stores used to sell games with memory cards and their save files. fifa 98 with modified teams, and tekken 3 with everything unlocked are two examples that come into mind. Some stores even sold memory cards with unlocked content, like memory cards with saves from every final fantasy and such. I guess that could was very handy to them, in order to massively copy memory card data. 10$ for new and obscure hardware isn't bad at all after all.

I've got one. It was sold as an alternative to the Dex Drive with direct copy support (card to card). Neat piece of tech.

It was also sold under the name Ramnet.

It can be connected to a PC with a parallel cable. Let me know if you need the PC software.

Interesting piece of equipment. What are the controller ports used for?

I think it is an awesome thing, cause then you can backup your Net Yaroze memory cards and what not on other memory cards. and copy them for that matter.

I thought the Net Yaroze memory card has some kind of copy protection. Are you sure that you can copy the card?

Shit, I do not even have that X-drive. But last time I checked up upon the Net Yaroze memory card in one of the many old Net Yaroze threads we have here. Then if I remember correctly, then the Net Yaroze memory card has been copied. So go on dig after the information in those old threads. Sorry if any one misunderstood my message.

I'd be curious about the NY access card since its electronics don't matc a normal memory card- also- anyone happen to know why dexdrive wont read pocketstation, or do i need a software update? it constantly says it needs a format even if its been formatted on the dexdrive... maybe this x-drive will do the job?

The X-Drive or Ramnet was released before the Pocketstation hit the market. If the Dex Drive can't do it I assume the Ramnet can't do it aswell.

btw, have you tried it with the latest DexPlorer software (v2.00)?

Cant believe anyone mentioned the "Double Power" yet.

Basically exactly the same just for Dreamcast, seems to have been popular on a few systems.

    Random Google Hit

It has the form of a miniature dreamcast, well, more or less.

(One might say this is useless since you can just stick any 2 vmu's together and exchange data like that, but we all know replacing those batterys is a bitch. And this seems to have a connection to pc too, niffty.)
