The Dual Analog came in black too. Maybe that explains this?

Interesting. Never heard of a black Dual Analog. Problem there is the time frame. Major retailers wouldn't likely stock a controller model known to have been relatively quickly discontinued, a decade later.

I've never seen a Dual Analog in black. Anyone have a pic?

I just figure that if these sort of things exist, there would be hard or semi-hard evidence somewhere - at least considering how many incredibly rare things have made their way into the public eye by now. As I've never seen any whatsoever - thus, in my mind it feels like a flubb-up of words or something simple.

That being said, I really hope I'm wrong. :D

That's the standard controller, sans motors. The casing has the place for the motors and the board has the solder pads.

Is the motors really that expensive ?

Sony has been producing the PS2 and PS3 controllers using the film membrane for almost 10 years now. It's nothing new. The only recent thing is the pressure based contacts that have been in use since 2007 when the fist Dualshock 3 pads were made ...

I've also never heard of such a thing. Didn't the first PS2 model come with a Dual Shock 2? It's weird for SONY to even release a controller without the shock feature.

Like l_oliveira said: It can't be that expensive to make the motors right?

Likely it was because of that Immersion law suit. Since these appeared around 2007. Sony went through the effort to not only remove the motors, but issue a new name and model number. They're not called Dual Shock 2. Just plain Analog Controller.

Dual Shock 2 was yes the original 2000 pack in, being a far lower SCPH-10010.

Amazing... never heard of this before. Something new to watch out for. I never remember any ps2 accessory costing less than $25 new... even at walmart. 2007 was around the time I got my white psp-1000 and was always looking out for accessories for it, and the ps2 i got just 2 years earlier. Always spent my time in every store in the gaming section, I dont see how I could have missed it.

I'm making a name for myself on this. For better or worse. I got other ideas of things I can't find solid evidence about.

I can remember reading about these controllers being announced.

I seem to recall that, aside from no dualshock motors, they were also missing the analogue pressure sensitivity on the buttons as well.

I hate counterfeit controllers But sony dont make ps2 controllers any more so where do we go if you need controllers.

I could say the same for atari 2600 and lots of older systems how can people not make new controllers as they wereout after a few years.

Maybe we can clone them make molds of the old ones make new ones.

When did SONY stop producing controllers for the PS2? I still find that they are widely available brand new. Could it really just be "old" stock?

    Probably still making them?

    PS2 hasn't been discontinued yet.

There's like a bazillion controllers still available, maybe they were overproduced.

These non rumble controllers must've had a short life.
Sony claims the Lego Batman bundle from fall 2008 contains Dualshock 2.

Dual Shock 2 likely yes. The other controller this topic was about, we don't know.
