I have a bunch of PS2s sitting that all have problems with running hard disks.

I read online that it could be a problem with the PS10 and PS9 fuses. I opened one up and noticed these fuses had the number 50 stamped on top. Tested with a multi meter and surely both seem blown. I recall seeing the same fuse in some PS1s so I grabbed a couple of trash boards and ripped a couple out and managed to install on the PS2. And the HDD is working fine on that unit again!

I can't seem to find the same exact type of fuse online and I am not sure what the rating is.

Would appreciate if someone who has experienced this before can provide a link on where to purchase or at least the rating so I can search for them myself.

    Thank you.

Find the fuses on a PSX board where the schematics are available (900x and 10x series, for example), then match the fuse location and label to the parts list in the schematic.

    So I found this diagram:

    PS9 and PS10 are 2.0A fuses.

What kind of fuses are they? I can't find the same exact ones online.

Would any SMD fuse with the same rating work? Can I use the cylindrical type as they are easier to install?

Well, the ratings have to fit. 12V 2A for example. Then you usually have fast, medium or slow blow. Since we don't know which it should be, I'd go with medium or slow. Fast blow is rarely required.

You can install any form factor that fits.
