Does anybody heard or know any information about this modchip, how good or bad is it with SCPH-7000X to 9000x? http://img.diytrade.com/smimg/807260/42378586-3166117-0/M7_MP_788_Chip_for_PS2_/3e2a.jpg Thanks!
You are kidding? Or are you serious? I've read on psx-scene forum that was a good modchip... I will waiting for other opionions.
I'm back with some new info. My console came back from the modder and I can say that I'm realy impress by this modchip because it's very obscure and very little info you can find on the internet... It's very simple to use: - for playing PlayStation 2 games just power on the console; - for playing PlayStation 1 games just reset the console 2 times. It doesn't have a menu like Modbo, Matrix or other modchips. I've tested some PlayStation 2 NTSC games (all Mortal Kombat's, Clock Tower 3, all Castlevania, etc) and all are working flawlessly. That was the first test. The second test was to test some PlayStation 1 games. All of them worked but sadly the modchip doesn't have the "PSX Screen Fix" code implemented so the NTSC games are view like 16:9 resolution; PAL games are working/view perfectly. Because the console must be power cycle two times the PS1 "improvements" like "Disc Speed" and "Texture Mapping" cannot be saved/used. I will test more to see how the modchip will behave.
Worse is a good word for this modchip but for the moment he does his job to play NTSC games on a PAL console. I have tested NTSC-J games and they work. I will try to test the console with DVD-9 games and multi disc games. By the way Bad_Ad84 for what was used "PS2 SCREEN FIX" and "Y SCREEN FIX" on Modbo/Matrix? I want to test those features to see if the M7 modchip have implemented. UPDATE - searching on the internet I have find some details about those options: PS2 Screen fix Options: a. Off – Uses system default. b. NTSC – Used to force NTSC signal format on all games/software c. PAL60 – Used to force NTSC signal format with color correction on PAL televisions that can handle NTSC signals. d. VGA – Use if you have a Blaze VGA adapter or on official one that came with the Linux Kit. e. Color – Uses your PS2's default region signal with color correction. f. PAL – Forces stanard PAL TV signal on all games/software Y Screen Fix Options: a. Off – uses software defaut for region. b. Auto – Automaticly adjust the Y axis on Imported games. c. –20 through +20 – Manually adjusts Y axis on Imported games. My TV is a Sony Trinitron that support NTSC over composite, s-video and strangely RF-out (but with one glitch, image is buzzing on static images or something like that; i don't have the black and white problem; I know this because I've tried my PAL Sega Dreamcast console with few NTSC games over RF, that's the only cable I have in my house) So those options are important if I use this tv model???
