Oh, I just replied to your other thread... I have the SCPH-10281, SCPH-10190, DTL-H10010, DEX-H10040. I may or may not have an ethernet-only bay model but no idea where it would be if I had it. also cannot find my DTL-H10010 is but I definitely have it somewhere. Don't know much about the DEX-H10040, it looks just like the DTL-H10040. It has a label "T&T LOANER" and another label "Property of SONY, This system is on loan....."etc. Probably goes to a TOOL, but I paired it to my TEST, which is probably useless. would be interesting to see some of these working on my TEST...
Please send me a photo of the DEX, It is probably a very early unit, Sony usually uses DEX for their beta devkits. That one is probably rarer than the DTL version. I'm trying to collect all of the versions of these, I would have never guessed that there was a DEX version of this.

Seems like a prototype version, the black part is a bit different, it has an indentation and a shiny finish whereas the final unit has a normal grained finish. Thanks for the info. Thanks, been looking for good photos of the PAL version.

CXD9731GP is the second type (revised version) of the SPEED chip. Anyone happens to know why it's called SPEED? It's not quick for any means, is it ? lol The original design had CXD9624xx as the chipset. Network adapters with the CXD9624 chip have issues with some DEV9 interfaces (Usually the CXD9686xx) from consoles ranging from GH-015 to GH-023.
LOL. I think that they can be fast, but it's a design problem with the DEV9 interface (Only one DMA channel for all peripherals and no tag/chain DMA transfer modes) and the IOP that makes it slow (It's just too weak to handle fast interfaces properly without a performance drop somewhere). The PSX has got the DVRP, which is a microcontroller that is connected to peripherals (Like the IOP again, but probably a lot stronger). I'm not surprised if downloading stuff and burning files to discs with that thing is a lot faster than on a retail Playstation 2. I'm willing to bet the the 'S' in SPEED and SMAP actually stands for Sony, since they seem to have an obsession with naming everything they make and develop starting with "Sony". SMAP -> Sony Media Access controller Peripheral? SPEED -> Sony Peripheral (something) Extension Device?
Just bumping to add some details. The comment within the SMAP register definitions file in the Playstation 2 BSD port is right: the EMAC is the same as the on-board EMAC from the IBM PowerPC 405GP. It took me a long time to see why, but the registers are mostly (if not exactly) the same (Other than the Linux module developers shortening their names), along with the bit definitions. Unfortunately, the available bit definitions seems to change between the different Linux kernel versions, hence the existence of all bits is not even well documented. :/ I didn't manage to find any documentation for the IBM 405GP's registers on the Internet though. D:

I have three brand new and boxed DTL-H10040 adaptors but I don't want to open them just to check the serial numbers. They are still completely untouched inside the boxes.
