hi members , i bought a $8.99 Faulty Playstation 2 and received it today. As in the description the Drive doesn't read discs but i use OPL and SMB so that doesn't bother me. When i tried to screw in my Network Adapter i found that the metal tabs with screw holes don't exist. I've never seen this before is this normal for some models or a part is missing ?.

Apparently the early Japanese models lacked an expansion bay. What model is it, does it have the HDD/ power connector for the network card?

it is a 30002 PAL and it does have the connector for the Network Adapter. I connected one and tested OPL in SMB mode and it works , the only thing is i can't screw in the Network Adapter due to the missing screw hole tabs in the Expansion Port area.

That's odd. I haven't taken apart an expansion-bay console in a long time. But I thought that the screw holes were part of the metal frame that is the expansion bay....

Are you good with taking it apart? I have a feeling that it can't be installed in reverse, but I guess it doesn't hurt to see if the previous owner installed it backwards.

That was my next thoughts, the cage for the expansion has the holes. Is the cage still present or is it just the main chassis?

I'll check my scph-50001 when I get home. I have a feeling the screw holes maybe part of the cage.

Same here. One hole is part of the chassis and the other is part of the cage. Have u got pics of your scph-30002?

Looks like it is missing the cage AND the side tab on the chassis. I've got an old 3000x model somewhere that I keep for spare parts. I can check if it's got the tabs/cage and send u them if u want.

hi gamer , that is an amazing offer thank you. I am in Oz though and i'm guessing your in the US so shipping will cost about the same as buying another PS2. I have thought about this and think the best thing to do is buy another PS2 Console and put this in my PS2 parts box or sell it on ebay.

i don't know i think this is the best solution , maybe you guys have some suggestions. My plan for this PS2 was to strip off the outer shell and put it in a Clear Shell from RichsPSXParts which i have already ordered.
