    Hi

Since Easter, I've been trying to get my PlayStation 2 fixed at a nearby computer shop.

At first, they tried replacing the laser/reconnecting that CD playback wire. It worked, but then the system started clicking and not loading.

Therefore, they tried replacing the plastic arm, it worked at first but soon gave up again.

Then, they tried replacing the plastic gear AND the motor in the system. The system died again and they now think it needs a new disc drive.

However, after searching online themselves, they couldn't find a new disc drive for my model console! (might be SCPH-30003 or something, I ain't got it on me right now, they're returning the unfixed console and refunding me the total repair costs tomorrow)!

Any idea where I can get a new disc drive! I've had the system under repair for a while but they've now given up over not being able to find the part they think it needs!

I was given another PS2 by a friend recently but I ain't tested it yet and I don't want there to be even just 1 PS2 less in the world!

I think it's cheaper for you to get another PS2, especially since Gamestop sells them for $50 and can be found cheaper by shopping around.

If the OP has a SCPH-30003 PS2, then he's probably in the UK (or at the very least in Europe). A sale at a US store isn't going to help him, and from the looks of it, Gamestop.co.uk doesn't sell PS2 systems anymore.
