I got 2 copies of this in 2004 relatively cheaply. I sold one copy here years ago and kept the other. I found my remaining copy in a box of random paperwork yesterday. I believe I tried to upload this to the FTP back in the day but the service was incredibly unreliable. Now I rediscovered it, its sharing time.

Anyhow the disc basically contains a comedy amount of PDF's covering NGP/Next Generation PlayStation which later became the PS2 (The same NGP acronym was later used for the PSP2 Portable) Devcon 1999, 2000 & 2001, Developer Newsgroup chit chat regarding programming help and banter and also FAQ's with regards to all PS2 development hardware and software.

The separate archives have been updated to include a fully functional catalog.pdf and Acrobat redistributable assuming you grab everything.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The archives use no compression, are locked and come complete with a recovery record to aid their long term preservation. As as a result of this they come with a little extra bulk. In the age of cheap mass storage and relatively high speed broadband connections this should be a non-issue.

There is no torrent, tracker, magnet link or any other form of Peer to Peer (P2P) download for this release so be weary of any alterations which may have been made upon further redistribution.

The disc image is supplied in Alcohol 120%'s .mdf/.mds format. It is an awesome program for backing up / nocd your games. I reccomend you purchase it (and the software you intend to use with it!). Other programs may make use of this format but you are on your own. If in doubt, download the separate archives and create and burn your own project in the program of your choice, such as Nero.

is it just me or do the T-10000's seem ungodly loud? When I turn mine off
at the end of the day, I'm amazed at how the ambient noise level drops to
    almost nothing.

anybody know any non-warranty-voiding tricks to quiet them down?

Have a PC one side and a T-10000 the other, a similar noise in each ear will
    make it easier to ignore!*

My 10000 is *marginally* quieter than a gas-powered leaf blower. Well, maybe
a electric vaccuum cleaner. Still, sometimes my ears are ringing by the end
    of the day.

If I had a PC that loud I'd take it out back and shoot it.

Although mine is not painfully loud, it's much louder than a typical PC. As
an audio guy, it's just really annoying, as I can't hear the finer problems
in the audio over the whir of the fan (unless I crank volume WAY up). Plus I
feel like I am slowly going deaf from prolonged exposure.

I'd like to suggest a motion that Sony looks into making a quieter dev kit
for the PS3 or whatever. I don't see why it has to be so loud, it's just a
PS2 with an old PC wrapped around it. My consumer PS2 is quiet, and I don't
see the need for all that fanning power for an old 233 Mhz Pentium or
whatever it is (they should just under-clock things anyway). If they could
get a fan-less power supply going then I think it would be pretty quiet.

Of course for the price of a 10000, I'm sure they are pretty paranoid about
    keeping it cool.

    Thanks,
    Dave.

Buy 4 PlayStation controller extension cables (2 for each controller), and
some RCA extensions, and put the thing in another room... that's what I did
with my PS1 devkit. Controllers worked fine despite Sony's claim that
    extensions that long wouldn't work.

I plan to move my PS2 devkit to the same equipment closet next week. Hope it
    works!!!

MGS2 is something I've been waiting for and seeing all those clips on

Notice how they're getting away with a 512 pixel wide screen..? Or how
nicely blurred their secondary buffer is..?

To be honest I'm surprised it runs as well as it does on a T10k... loads of
TTY stuff being spat out (IOP 0 and EE Kernel streams are v.busy).

Their VU1 code looks quite nice too.. ;)

    Err it's not new :p

I personally use Alcohol 120% - when I'm lazy I tick all the boxes (as I cba to find out which protection to undo for backing up/nocd my PC games, but it seems to work with everything that way) and it uses that format :p

Other programs must work with it, maybe Daemontools or something? Though I don't use them personally.

The thread has had 170+ views, so presumably a fair few people have downloaded it yet you're the first to mention an issue I doubt the majority of the others are using Linux :p Any windows box or orther programs to try? Or maybe you have a program that will burn it straight to a CD?

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.mds http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CDemu will be the answer to your prayers!

Well mdf2iso is a linux util specifically designed to convert mdf/mds to iso. Furthermore, there are apparently ways to mount it with the standard unix mount command, but those aren't working either. Oh well, I dunno how much I'd use this info, but cool nonetheless to see it up :p

No need for permission I don't really own the files just a genuine copy of the original disc :p Do with it as you will (except selling clones or files!) though I would hope your unpacked upload includes the disc label and everything (ie the catalog) works? ;)

Be careful what you download with Multiupload - avoid the exe files!!

I mean avoid the exe files?

Multiupload likes to give you popups and fake download links. Every now and then, it'll do so when you click a legitimate link. And obviously, avoid those huge download buttons!

It's fairly obvious, it tries to download something like installfiledownloader.exe lol. Still, some may fall for it.

It's sneaky how these download sites will have something like:

    DOWNLOAD NOW

Here's the file you were looking for

And the other thing they'll do is have a popup that opens when you click the download link. The popup has what looks like a download page that will try to install some exe file.
