Well it's here and available to download and it doesn't really change and ad much apart from adding a stupid information bar to the top right hand corner which displays in Japanese on a Japanese system and demands you change the language to Japanese (makes no difference if you don't), adds printer support for some canon printers, adds some more options to the theme including some new fonts and one new scheme but you can add more, adds playlist support for music and pictures and seperates Playstation Network from Network for no good reason... oh and you can now turn on your Playstation 3 from a PSP or the internet (via said PSP), be fun to scare members of your family.

This update was so lame I mean we waited all this time just for themes :| It really sucks a lot and I'm starting to get fed up with things like this I wanted in game XMB.

The "Wake-on-LAN" feature to remotely turn on the system from a PSP is broken. I don't know enough about it in technical terms, but in order to get the full online functionality out of the PS3 you need it to be open to the Internet (in the DMZ on your router), but this essentially causes the PS3 to turn on anytime anything tries to access it (including every automated port scan, hacking attempt, etc.). My PS3 turns on every 15 min. or so, waits about a minute, then turns off. That HAS to be worse than just leaving it on. I imagine the only solution would be to hide it behind the router and just forward a few ports, but then the online would be gimped. Good times.

Of course it does, I was playing Midnight Wangan and F1 CE just last night. :)

I personally thought the themes sucked as I prefer the standard look anyway. This update didn't really do much for me apart from I believe increase the compatabilty of a few PS/PS2 games for 80gb owners.

As for the wake on LAN feature, you can turn it off as I can't really imagine it's that useful, I was racking my brains to try and think of a single use of why you would want to turn on your PS3 from a PSP...

hmmm... maybe if you can use your PSP as a remote. Then you can put in a Blu-Ray disc. Go sit on the can, turn on the PS3. Press play and the movie should be through the previews by the time your done dropping a deuce.

So, it's not worth me turning my PS3 on just for this update?

I'm regretting owning it more and more, day by day. I only ever used mine to play Sega Ages titles which were on PS2 anyway, if I had a PAL unit I doubt I'd ever of turned the thing on.

I just turned mine on for the first time in 3 months to download the Uncharted demo, and it smelt like my house the first time the heat went on during the winter.

Anywho, the update is somewhat eh...You always got to love how slow the updates are when compared to the 360's. Also, how do you turn off the bar at the top?

You can put it behind a firework and just forward whatever port the PSP uses to connect to the PS3, can't you?

The reason you'd want this feature is to stream media content from your PS3 drive to your PSP while away from the house.

Yes, but then you'd get the "Nat 3" result and it would limit other online capabilities. Might be worth it though, as I don't play a lot of online games with voice chat and plan to use Remote Play a lot.

only thing i like about 2.0 is buying stuff on psn. No stupid steps to add $$$ to your walet. It just instantly says "willl deduct $$$ from your credit card". you click continue (it verifys in the background) then goes to the download screen.

the themes sony gave out suck ass on SD (unreadable). Still themes are cool (i love the theme i have on my psp, never going back to default again).
