    Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the right place for a thread on this subject, so feel free to move it if not.

Anyway, I've been offered a couple of PlayStation 4 display units (complete cabinets, including monitor, PS4 unit and so on) and was wondering if these are essentially just locked retail units only capable of playing preset demos, or something more exciting, like test kits and so on.

If anyone can shed any light, it'd be most appreciated.

    Cheers!

Nevermind. After taking a closer look, the units are both marked "CUH-1004A", which I suppose means they're bog-standard retail units locked into demo mode.

Please feel free to close this thread.

That'd still be a pretty cool thing to own, regardless of whether they're any different from retail models or not.

Yeah, I've always liked getting hold of stuff like this, but without much space left in my flat I can't really justify having the whole display unit taking up a corner of the room. Not to mention the fact I already own a retail unit! If this were a DUH unit I might feel differently...

I was offered them at £900 for a complete unit, but due to the seemingly limited potential, I'm currently inclined to pass for now.

Yeah, that's partly the reason I'll probably pass. The monitors are nice, though only around 26" if I recall correctly, but overall I admit the price is quite steep.

These are clear I'm afraid, and the units inside have been confirmed as "CUH-1004A" ones.

So, it would work like a regular retail console? If so, that would be pretty cool to have, especially now!!!!

They are currently being stored in the UK, so I'll take a closer look when I'm next there and list up some details.

Too bad these weren't dev kits, and man he's really offering a steep price for these.

If they are anything like PS3 units then the kiosk models are actually different. In the case of the PS3 there was CEX (consumer), DEX (developer), GEX (Arcade) and (tee heee) the SEX (shop or store).

I believe these may need codes to run properly.
