    Hi,

A little while ago I installed a ONEChip in my PAL PSOne console but haven't been able to verify that it worked correctly. I've tried burning discs at every speed that my burner will support, and used pro-grade discs, but nothing runs on the console.

I wondered if anyone if I could make an arrangement with someone to copy a disc, verify that it works and then post it to me to try? I don't mind if it's just a demo disc or something. Or a game that I personally own a copy of. I'm not trying to get into illegal stuff!

Thanks very much to anyone who can help :)

Stupid question, but does a real disc run?

Probably one of the more important questions to ask.

My suggestion is check if you installed the chip correctly. Even if you're confident you did I highly suggest looking as it can still happen.

I don't recall exactly (too many consoles and mods in this head) but is there a specific HEX code/Chip for each region?

Did you install the proper mod chip for PAL?

There is only 1 ONEchip hex, which is for pal consoles. If it was the wrong region and was installed correctly, originals wouldn't work.

Good point. I rarely deal with PAL pS1s around here.

Ordering an original foreign-region disc off eBay would achieve the same effect. In your case, you'd want an NTSC game. You should be able to get one for a few $. I ordered the cheapest PAL games (I am in NTSC region) I could find for PS1, PS2 & Gamecube solely for better modchip testing. It eliminates the variable of the laser being too weak to pick up the burned disc.
edit: and eliminates the variable of the disc being burned incorrectly.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'd like to figure out backing stuff up, but getting an NTSC disc is a good idea for at least figuring out if the mod works. It does seem like it's doing something because the main Playstation menu is in 60Hz now instead of 50.

Shouldn't need boot disc with ONEchip Modchip on a pal psone. Only a mayumi or mm3 would need that.
