Hi, my first time posting here Below is a link to the UCD website, on this page is a games console I used to own, gave it to a friend after it stopped working. I might see if he still has it when I see him again Just wondering if anyone else has ever seen or owned one of these? http://ultimateconsoledatabase.com/famiclones/operaavstation.htm Nidge
Not that but I have something that looks nearly identical, just different branding. It doesn't play PS1 though. Then again there's no evidence that one does either. The only people who believe the claims made on clone boxes are grandparents of very disappointed kids.
I can't remember seeing a PS1 clone. I've seen Famiclones shaped like a PS1, but never ones that played PS1 games (or at least had a CD drive).
Has anyone ever saw this? http://pt.aliexpress.com/item/Home-tv-ps1-game-machine-nostalgic-classic-double-set/1286279832.html
Very interesting. It supports real Playstation controllers and it's quite expensive. It also has an SD card slot, so I guess that it's an emulation machine.
It doesn't look like anything special. Probably just a joe-nobody ARM device that emulates PS1 games really crappy. I've seen a bunch of those in different form-factors from China. All kind of 'meh' to me.
It was a while ago now, but I'm pretty certain it did play PS1 CD games? It was the CD drive that failed, I do remember it would play VCD's and MP3's on a CD-R
Well it's a clone in the sense that it supposedly plays PS1 games. I mean the Supaboy doesn't look like an SNES, but it's an SNES clone.
I spoke to my mate on the phone today, he thinks he may still have this console So I might be getting it back, fingers crossed
Fingers crossed indeed. I still think it will be a NES clone but if it really is a PlayStation clone from back in the late 90s that would be amazing.
Fingers crossed here as well. But if it is a real clone, it won't be from the 90s as I see PS One on the console.
Update on the AV Station. I spoke to my mate on the phone yesterday, who I left the console with, he had a look in the cupboard where he thought it was? While I was talking to him, unfortuantly it wasn't there He said he will check in his attic when he can get up there again. But at this time it's not looking good for finding the AV Station Really wish I'd kept this now, but left it with him when I moved house, and forgot about it I am planing a trip over there soon, so I will help him look again... lol
Just a few lines on what I can remember about the AV Station when I had it... This is from the email I sent to the UCD website. "The instruction manual just gives general instructions for the operation of the unit. It states that Divx3.x and Divx4.x at a resolution no greater than 352x288 can be used. At the rear of the unit there are 8 ports, DC in 8v, two 9pin joystick ports, video out, audio out left & right and 2 USB ports. I never managed to get anything to work in the USB ports, maybe they can be used like PSX memory cards, or for keyboard or mouse??? Nothing in the manual about USB apart from a diagram showing where they are. Down the right hand side there is a power on/off switch a headphone socket and a volume control. At the front is the IF sensor for the remote control. On top of the unit is a release button for the CD lid, a round button with play/pause, fast forward, rewind and stop. Six button are just below the LCD display these are SLOW, OSD, L/R, REP, PBC, P/N. The joypads are just like a Playstations apart from the flashing leds and the 9pin plugs. the remote control is like most Japanese VCD/DVD remotes, nothing special really. " Things I tested. It played CD-Audio, MP3 and MP4 from a CD-R. Original Video-CD's (VCD) or ones from a CD-R. Nothing plugged into the USB ports seemed to work? I cannot honestly remember if I tried a Playstation game in it? Joypads had an Atari/Amiga type 9 pin plug. The leds on the joypads flashed when plugged in, all the time!!! The CD drive failed I bought it from a Computer Fair, remember those? The guy selling them had about 20 on his stall, I think it was about £25? He must have got a joblot from somewhere? I wonder if he sold them all?
Ah, computer fairs... Those were great British events. My dad dragged us to them in the 90s, remember there were always yellow hi-vis signs on the way in case you were too stupid to find it yourself. Buying dodgy pack of 50 CD-Rs only to get home and find that 48 of them were duff. I remember some people would even have a 486 set up with a Matrix Mystique or 3DFX Voodoo graphics card, usually running an early 3d game like 'Big Red Racing'. Back in the old days when you could buy 1MB RAM chips to plug into your graphics card. I actually witnessed a fight, when a geeky gentleman quite rightly pointed out that a seller was trying to offload keyboards that were not UK layout - the guy responded with lots of swearing and punched him! Nidge - I have just gone into full geek reminiscing mode. Thank you
No problem I can remember doing a few Fairs, selling Amiga Public Domain disks Amiga Best B4 PD, I still have a T-Shirt My A1200 68040 tower running Doom, and emulating a Mac caused abit of a stir lol.
