I installed a mm3 modchip in my scph-1001 playstation and I have a problem. It won't play any of my backups or imports. It loads the sony logo and then (sometimes) gets to the playstation screen, but then usually hangs up there indefinitely. I got crash bandicoot to get the main screen, but then it hung up again. It plays my originals fine mostly, oddworld skips terribly. Any ideas on where I went wrong? Thanks in advance!
Did it work fine before the chip install? I installed a Mayumi V4 chip on my SCPH-5500 before and something like this happened. After resoldering all connections it was fine, so perhaps try doing that?
Yeah, I tested it first and it runs perfectly. Resoldering everything would probably be a good idea right now. Thanks.
Resoldered everything(several times) to no avail. I think it's because I'm using model 1001, which is known to be finicky. I'll just wait to find a 5501 or 7501. here's a pic of my install, I know it's hard to see because of the tape, sorry. http://i.imgur.com/TJuiDUi.jpg
Ok, now I'm confused. I was using this guide: http://www.psxdev.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=111 So can I install this chip in a 1001, is there a guide for a 4 wire install? Which model is this mm3 made for? Thanks so much for the insight.
http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?53366-looking-for-mm3-diagrams-for-scph-1001 Read this thread. I believe what you need is in here. http://wiki.assemblergames.com/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=wiki:sony:pu8_mm3_test.jpg
pff, idon't know why he link old mm2.x schemes fo mm3.... bah! 7 wire modes with mm3 simply don't work, even the other test scheme... here's the right scheme MM3
Installed the 4 wire setup, same results. SOMETIMES I make it to the playstation screen, but then it just hangs up indefinitely. Thanks for the help everyone but I'm just gonna grab a 7501.
