So the 'Arc' has finally been officially revealed as the PlayStation Move.

    Along with the 'sub-controller'

There's loads more pictures and info on the Move and it's games on Engadget. It's also worth reading the interview over on Joystiq.

Looks like a Japanese sex toy.

    It's utterly doomed.

    1. Virtual pet?? fuck offffff
    2. Archery and sports...zzzzzzzzzzzz
    3. FPS... They already make a peripheral, the light gun.

    This thing reeks of failure.

    1. Need eyetoy webcam (whatever the new one is)
    2. Under $100 - means $80 with a shitty game

I doubt for $80 you get the cam and controller. You probably need the cam and controller.

This product is basically natal after giving up on head and motion tracking.

I have no desire to be up out of my chair at 3am having to box in a realistic manner with a controller. If I wanted to do this, I would have taken up BOXING.

In so many words, fuck this shit.

No actually they stated it includes the cam, controller & game.

The whole point of the cam is for tracking the ball. Same reason the Wii needs that bar on top of your screen.

So if you own eyetoy, do you get a refund on the first one?

No but they said there are multiple bundles. They realize that there are people out there who already have a PS Eye.

You going to bitch about MS giving people a refund when natal comes out for the vision cam?

As much as I want this to succeed, the Wii hype train has simmered enough for this to bomb....they should just hold off until next gen and do something authentic.

It should be interesting for some games. No more heroes would certainly work nicely with this and perhaps The Force Unleashed 2 ;)

I'm not much interested on it either. Anyway, if GT5 (when it finally get's released...) makes a good use of the PSEye camera for headtracking, maybe i would get the bundle with this, as it seems the price will be pratically the same of just the camera.

    Anyway, here's an interesting article:
    http://wii.ign.com/articles/107/1076978p1.html

As it says at the ending, Sony has made a dildo-controller that feels like a gimped Wii remote. Natal sucks. And Wii 2 is in no rush.

If Sony had released this a year ago they'd be onto something, as it is right now, the Wii motion control fad has really faded out. The wii owners are all buying 360s (and ps3s) and the aleady released wii games pretty much exhausted all the possibilities for these controllers anyway. These things will be sitting next to Tony Hawk Ride in the peripheral department collecting dust.

I suppose I am just hostile to such unabashed copying of another's idea.

I honestly just want to play games with a controller, like I've been doing my entire life. I really hope all this motion sensing stuff isn't the future of gaming...

While I haven't tried bugging people I know working on natal games, the last bits of public info we heard about it has me worried. The overhead for natal is freaking horrible. Ms should have just took the hit and left the CPU in the camera instead of trying to eat up 360 resources.

I more look at it as your hostility to not trust sony/sony products. =)

But truth be told, while this is a bit of a rip off (the software shown sure as hell was), dr marks (the guy who made the eye toy for sony) has been working on this stuff long before the Wii was on the market. So sony has had this shit laying around for a number of years, they just now said "oh shit, we need to match/beat nintendo lets go see what tech we have in the closet."

I'd say that the controller as it's bluetooth will be far more valuable once hacked for pc use.

Ouch.. not good. Microsoft could afford it too, what with all the money it makes from grossly overpriced hard drives and wireless adapters. :flamethrower:

Oh, ok, that redeems Sony all right!

    ----
In the end, it's all a one-up cycle. One company creates something good that another company improves on. (Nintendo with the NES pad evolved into the SNES pad, embraced and modified by Sony for the PlayStation.)
Thee Wii motion-sensing, while industry-changing, has its limitations. Perhaps Sony and Microsoft can add something awesome to the overall creation.. Then Nintendo will surprise us all with hopefully something better.. and then WHAT? :O

That made some very interesting reading...

Unfortunately(for Sony/MS), to me at least it's like comparing who has the best Guitar Hero controller. Watching the NATAL promos I was most exited about being able to play DVDs without a Remote rather than playing virtua-nonce to Milo. Likewise while probably technically superior, the PS3 Move seems superfluous. I already have Rock Band, Buzz, Singstar, PSeye and Guitar Hero; Do I really need another controller to play a single game? I'm running out of space!

Natal will suffer from lag and probably high cpu overhead.

Well, I'd say if you're posting on this forum, you're not one of the people the Natal is intended for. I can't get excited over the Natal either, the early promos remind me too much of PS2 Eyetoy stuff. Remember that thing? The games that were fun for about five minutes?
