Playstation PS1 drastic laser unit replacement

    i connected IDE cd-rom to ps1 10-11 years ago, but it gave capability of reading data, games works on thier own protocol - so you need 1) patch ps-exe of game and replace part of code from handling native cd-rom to IDE protocol. but where this hadler is located is differ for every game
    2) make hardware that emulate cd-rom dsp and get data from alternative sources - SD card, HDD/ DVD...

    I knew that I couldn't be the first one to have this stupid idea ;-)
    What I find annoying is you have to patch the game, what I would look for is something enabling you to play original games.
    All this is very (too) far from my knowledege, maybe I could just wait what's going to happen with PSIO ?...

    IDE device to I/O bus is not stupid idea)). it's just another way.
