Hey Can you still download to the original 1.00 firmware? Is there any difference between a PSP that has the original 1.00 firmware and one that was downgraded? Thanks!
It's been a while since I've lost touch with the PSP homebrew community, but as I remember the downgraded PSP firmware is exactly the same as if you just bought a new 1.00 PSP. I know that the downgraders that I have used did not require andy additional software or file packs. I would assume that they either contain the necessary firmware packs or they somehow perform a rollback. There are a few quick answers. Subbie knows a lot more about this than I do. I'm sure he'll be by shortly.
There is a way to downgrade some units to 1.00 but not all. Also I don't think it makes it a true 1.00 still (as 1.5 firmware files still linger in flash). There is a high risk with bricking a unit by trying to downgrade back to 1.00. Other then collection reasons, there are no other reasons to keep a 1.00 since there were major changes internaly in the 1.5 firmware making it hard for 1.00 to do some things. As well the new OE custom firmware is great.
As subbie said, there's really no reason to use 1.0. You should use 1.5 or one of the new Open Editions like 3.11OE which is the latest firmware and runs all the new games but also will run homebrew.
To downgrade to 1.0 you need a dump of 1.0 from an actual 1.0 PSP. You cant download 1.0 in its eboot form as it was never released as a download as it was the first firmware. A downgraded 1.0 is exactly the same as an original 1.0 becuase the downgrader performs a logical format of the flash0 partition. There's no reason to downgrade to 1.0 anyway as the OE firmwares do everything that 1.0 does and more, also 1.0 doesnt have full homebrew compatiblity.
