So, do you want to rent PlayStation games or do you want to buy never-used rental copies?

If you speak of the last option, then you may have much trouble finding them at any one location. You can only usually find that stuff second-hand, like on eBay or in the hands of a collector.

Someone else here may know something I don't. :)

I'm interested in never used games for my collection.

    Crash Bandicoot: Warped
Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
    Resident Evil: Nemesis

Maybe I'm overinterpreting, but if I recall correctly Sony released different versions of games for rental as opposed to those for retail sale. There wasn't any difference in the code, but the disk art and case would have different text indicating that the license was for rental and not for sale. I don't know what value there would be there for a collector, but people have chased after dumber things.

I know some of the rental games had different codes as I remember some of the old Gameshark codes in game magazines wouldn't work on rental games.

I rented those games from different places lots of times and they were always retail copies, at least here in the US.

Wasn't Ghost in the Shell or something a rental only?

Some games were released (at least in the UK) as rental only, specifically some SNK conversions.

In America, Kartia and Eggs of Steel both had rental "variants" compared to their retail release.

    Kartia is here**:

    Eggs of Steel i shere:

The N64 had several Blockbuster exclusives before they hit retail...I think Hercules, Beast Metal Transformers, Razor Scooter were three of them...I think there were like...2 or 3 more. (Daikatana?)

**Apologies for the broken html / odd image spacing - slowly going through web pages as I get to them and fix them.

Yer Real Bout Fatal Fury & Samurai Shodown 3 I believe. I was thinking they didn't have proper cases having seen them in Blockbuster rental cases but there is a full looking release on Ebay of one right now!

I believe there were more releases than those Baseley, but you are right. I didn't know they had 'real' cases though.
