my ps1 1001 doesn't seem to like audio cds... it starts to read it, but after a while it stops all audio then spins the disc up really fast and the laser skips everything past it. ive tried to change the potentiometers, but not working still.
hi Aspire , do you have any original pressed Audio CD's and tried them ?.............there may be an issue with the burn software when making your CD-R Audio CD's. also there's a common problem with some of the model 1001's where they skip , you can try a trick where you turn you PS1 over so the bottom is the top the PS1 reads discs better that way.
i may have a psone somewhere... but is it possible to replace the cover plate on the frame with one from a 1001? because it seems to look like it would be able to fit, and it would be nice to not have to dremel my ps1 casing
its not modded, but soon will be, and it plays games on normal cds fine, except the music stops randomly at times :/
Your spindle is also broken. That will effect your media reading too. Replacing it with a BAM laser as Bad_Ad84 suggested is a smart move Also it needs to be chipped before it can read cd-r (game or music)
i have plenty of ps1 systems with a brocken spindle similar to this, and they seem to read fine.. also im looking for an original BAM laser assembly... since i cannot find my old psone..
UPDATE: i installed a laser from possibly a 7000-9000 series, and for now, it seems to be working fine!
