Playstation SCPH-5502 PU 18 modchip

I have Playstation SCPH-5502 -PU 18 board (PAL).Can someone identify this strange mod?This console reading original game CD but when you insert CD copy its screen stuck on loading CD.this wasnt my console i bought it from ebay.

 

Looks like standard 4 wire modchip and a colour fix circuit. So games work over composite in colour when playing imports.

Being stuck at license could just be laser is worn out or poor burns.

 

Any sugestions?Change laser?

 

You can adjust the laser by using a little pot near to it but it can be hit or miss.

Either go for a replacement laser (if you can find one, I havent looked for years) or something like the PS-IO so you wont need the laser anymore

 

o yea i try pot...i got >miss,miss,miss,PSIO will be good but they sold out... when it will be aviable ...unkown.

 

yeah the pot can be hit or miss, you have to adjust it in really tiny increments.
PS-IO will do another run of devices soon so you can just pick one up then but not many other choices out there unfortunately
