    http://digitalbattle.com/2006/08/18/adam-sandler-donates-playstations-to-israel/
I stumbled upon this over at Digg, apparently actor Adam Sandler will donate 400 Sony PlayStations to the Israeli families whose homes were damaged during the recent war with Lebanon. That’s exactly what you need in a crisis like this, videogames.
Sandler is one of many Hollywood personalities to donate to Israel, thanks to Ehud Danoch, Israel’s consul general in Los Angeles, whose job is to “describe damage sustained by Israel and to explain the country’s position on the current cease-fire and threats posed by Hizbullah and other regional forcesâ€￾.
I bet if the Lebanese had that lobbying power, they would get tons of PlayStations.
While were at it, Mr. Sandler, how about donating a thing or two to the Lebanese people? Like, say, food? Water? Medicine?

    That's just.. weird news:033:

I'll say, i saw this story on gamespot and checked it twice to see if this was a joke. I mean id imagien these people are more worried about survival then having video games. This tops even adam sandlers worst movies.

No. This is a good effort. It is for the kids to get their minds off of the fact that they are surrounded in a region that wants them all raped and dead. Good way for them to escape while they are in the bomb shelter.

in a war, children on both sides are equaly innocent. It seems unfair that the other side don't get to have any videogames sent out to them.

Adam Sandler is Jewish isn't he? That would be why the Lebanese kids don't get a look in, I'd guess.

Yeh I understand but I doubt Hizbollah would allow a Jew to give them gifts. Lets just hope the UN and lackluster Lebanese army (or lack there of) actually disarms and dismantles the organization.

Or Israel stops trying to move in on land they don't have rights to. Whatever solution comes to be will only be a temporary measure.

war is war, kids are kids. Let's keep kids out of it and let em have a blast with video games. If I were anyone of any fame or importance, I'd donate to both sides, at least not to give the impression that I m supporting any of the two side's war effort.

That's some screwed up priorities, to be honest.

Aside the fact that PlayStations aren't exactly essential, did he think to send them TVs to play on? If these homes were damaged by bombs, is he funding electric grid infrastructure repairs, or paying for bills?

What about the games? Haha. Man, this is so ridiculous, one can only laugh. The guy spends tons of cash to get them something they don't even need. Just like Jolie and her oh - so - great gift to some poor tribe. A laptop. Great thinking.

"Hold this laptop and smile for the camera, midget!" *flash* "Gimme that! Now off you go!"

Dude I bet he didnt spend shit on those playstations. He got them for free from some sony guy.

And yeah, what about the lebanese kids? I remember those katshiuya from some anti-missile laser test the army did in california. Those rockets are crap, is just a fireworks rocket with some exposive in the head, it can barely blow a small car, let alone a house.

The only real damage I've seen in israel is a parking lot in flames, yet lebanon was fucking blown to pieces, theres nothing left there.

But hell, I heard hollywood's left wing has shown their support for israel. Talk about anti-establishment...

you can probably make a joke about his choice to send cheap current gen ps2 consoles to fellow israelis as a "charity" instead of xbox 360 or something.

Except that Hezbollah was created after Israel invaded (and then occupied) Lebanon in the 1980's to try to drive them out again. I don't condone their methods, but a lot of people seem to confuse the current conflict there as Lebanon vs Israel, whihch isn't the case at all. The Lebonese came off a lot worse, but no PlayStations go to the children there.
