The youtube link is to a BBC documentary called Egypt. I'm desperately trying to find the main title music which I believe is also the music played throughout, it sounds like one continous piece, chopped and cut for various scenes, however you can here the bulk of it in the first minute.

All I know from the DVD credits is that it was performed by the warsaw radio orchestra.

I've been looking for the music for two years, in record stores and on the internet with no luck at all.

If anybody recognises it or thinks they know where I might be able to find it please let me know.

    Thanks.

Are there any composer details on the credits? It could possibly be composed specifically for the programme.

I was going to go for a job in BBC Archives, but was unable to at the last moment due to ill health. A shame, or I could have found out for you! You could try and get a response from them, but I think they would only answer to a film production company, sadly.

Only that which I mentioned...Warsaw Radio Orchestra.

An new member of the forum just PM'd me and led me to a japanese site. There's an Real media sample of the track on there and it's known as "Timeless Histories".

Post that question on the YouTube video asking about the music and someone will eventually answer. A lot of people do that with movie trailers.

I've managed to find that CD on ebay. It's in a shop not far from my house I'm just waiting for a reply from the seller so I can go and pick it up.

    Hmm, you found it? Cool!

I was going to say maybe you could contact the orchestra and ask them.

BBC documentaries are among the best there are. A good amount of them are superb and really fascinating.

Well I got an email back from the guy with the CD. He wants £5 for the CD but just as much for the postage. I know that amounts to only £10 but i'm not very flush at the moment. His business is Blackmore IT and I live in the same area (about 3 miles away) but he refuses to let me come pick it up.

Typical! I hate when local folk mess you around like that when they are clearly trying to make extra on the P&P.

Yeah bit of a joke, if I was 100% certain its what I'm after I'd just pay up, but that real player clip of the same CD on that Japanese site didn't give any insight as to how much of the music is on the disc and for how long.

One thing's for sure, if it does turn out to be the music I'm after I'm going to make it clear everywhere I can that it's from BBC's Egypt. After quite a lot of research it seems a lot of people have been looking for it.

Blackmore IT are complete rip-off merchants. They take apart PCs and sell the used parts for way over the odds. There are a LOT of things I would have bought off them were they not having a laugh with the prices. I don't agree with their postage prices, either. I had that with a local guy recently. His prices were fine but it would have saved us BOTH in postage and PayPal fees if I'd picked it up. He told me his wife doesn't like people coming to the house. I told him he just lost out on selling a lot of stuff. If people are going to be like that, f**k 'em!

What's the CD called? I'll find it for you, heh.

*EDIT* I just looked, and they only want £2.49 shipping on all their CDs that I can see.

Yup! I've had a good look everywhere else. Found reference to BMG but couldn't find it on their catalogue. Did Nichion make it? I think £7.50 is a reasonable price.

Let us know if it's right! ;-)
