i bought a jap saturn in my trip to japan, and i noticed that it is marked 100v, 15W on it... i already know that i would need a stepdown converter, but i'm having some problems in findinone that works from euro 220v to 100v... it seems that almost all works on 220/110v that is fine for usa devices. some people told me that it is not a problem, but i'm waiting to hear from someonewith more experience because i don't want to blow my new saturn by the way someone told me that for being sure i should go for a converter that outputs at least 30w... please be of help as soon as you can, since i'm planning to going to buy it today thank you all, karsten
It is not a problem something that takes 100 can also take 110 and vice-versa. I had this same problem in Hong-Kong, but the maid set me strait
Yes. When I lived in the UK I used a converter to change 240 to 100v on my Japanese Saturn without any problems at all. Yakumo
this is good to hear by the way how does it seems spending around 70 euro for a jap saturn, boxed, grey version with virtua fighter remix in the box + the following games: super robot wars f puzzle bobble 2x puzzle bobble3 saturn bomberman magical drop 3 tetris s slayers royale 2 tenchimuyo/tokomuyo panzer dragoon virtual on x2 street fighter zero x-men children of the atom vampire hunter wipeout sega rally christmas nights neon genesis evangelion 2nd impression neon genesis evangelion a new story virtua fighter 2 panzer dragoon zwei king of fighter '96 + 1mb ram (the ram i discovered later while i was in japan is rusted on contact or something like that) a 4mb ram cart i'm right when i fear that kof96 needs and accept only the 1mb ram cart? is there any good buy in the lot? my rgb cable for SS will work as good as it does on my pal ss, right? thank you a lot people! ps i hope i'll find the converter since i can't wait to play my SS!
you know you could just buy an action replay to make that ram cart buisness a whole hell of a lot less complicated. And that is a decent deal seeing as you would probably spend that much for a jap saturn on ebay with the insane shipping prices and all.
oh, i forgot to ask, can i use a pal import cart on a japanese saturn? or it won't work at all? or it'll fry something? i have some usa and pal games i'd like to play on my ntsc 60hz saturn....
Yes you can. I have a British Datel Converter to play my PAL Saturn games on my Japanese system. It worked fine. I don't use it anymore though since the Japanese Pro Action Replay 2 acts as a converter as well as memory card. I remember Antipasta saying that the PAL Pro Action Replay forced you to save to the Saturns memory even though it showed up as being an extra memory card. Yakumo
yet another question sorry for that.... i can't find the 220/100v converter anywere so i tought that i could take the ac from my pal saturn and exchanging it for the japanes one... but guess what? gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr my pal saturn says that it works at 20w instead of 15w..... so it seems crazy to me, but pal saturn is 220-240v 20W 50/60hz jap saturn is 100v 15w 50/60hz by the way, what are the hz refering to? not the screen refresh, right? othervise jap games on pal saturn would go fullsped, right?
Yeah, I do the same. The extra 10 volts are not a problem whatsoever. I did fry an Atari 7800 with a PC Engine converter, though - but that was because it was modded and took a different amperage - which I didn't know.
this was already answered i mean if using a device outputting at higher watts (not volts) can damage the thing or not, for as i said i'd like to try to shift the power from my euro sat with the one of my jap one.... maybe i can't explain it well
You can switch the power supplies. 15 and 20W are how much power the console consumes, it's irrelevant.
Perfect! i switched the power supply and it works great! i want to than you all for your support guys! by the way, when i plug in a 4mb ram cart does it shows any sing on the boot of the system or not? i fear that the expansion paort mugt be not working... by the way so far i have only one game that supports the 1mb ram cart... KOF 95 but the ram cart seems to be oxidated... so i can't check if the expansion port works at all... any suggestions?)
Yep, KOF 95 has a ROM card, not a RAM card. so as kyuusaku says, it needs its orignal cards, it stores character sprites etc. There is only one other game (A capcom one believe) which needs its own cart, Can't remember which though. All oher games work with either a 1mb or 4mb RAM card NOTE: typing when pissed is fuckign hard. I dont advise it. I needed to make about one correctionn per word in this reply.
