Hey peoples.. ok so i've recently softmodded my original Xbox with UnleashX and i've uninstalled it and reinstalled several times now, trying to get a clean install. I want a clean install because I thing I bugged up some games by playing them from disc and hdd and now the load times seem messed up. But every time it is reinstalled, when I check certain things it is the same install as before, as if it was never uninstalled at all. For example, when I press X on the controller to see my recent list of tasks. Even after I reinstall, the recent list is still there. I've restored from C and MS dash and still get the same result. It tells me everything will be erased. Yet it seems nothing gets erased. I'm sure there is something i'm missing, but at this point I am mentally exhausted. Please help. :(

    Try changing the HDD.
I assume you have the stock 8 or 10GB?Then better get the EEPROM key off the Xbox and install a larger harddrive in there.
It will both fix your problem and you'll have way more space.

i can't exactly link it here due to respect to the developer (SPPV) but look online for 'sid5 babylon' extract archive, use IMGBURN and write it to disk at 8x.
when done, cold boot that fucker in the xbox dvd drawer (power up console with that written babylon disk) and restore mod da$h, and good taste in dash because UNLX is in it!
follow on screen prompts, you be GOLD! :cocksure:
    ....
i assume console can still boot into a modded dash/still read backup disks? if so, you KNOW what to do!
    all the best!
    ...
    [edit]
it's the 'iso' you write to disk! (xiso)
if you've enabled 'shadowC' that's why the settings are remembered even after changes, it protect the 'C:/' partition from destruction/user retardations! (meaning nobody touches it, common sense) BUT disable 'shadowC' if you know what i'm talking about? if not, ignore this line and carry on as above!

Thanks a lot! yes it's currently a stock WD drive but I plan to upgrade. I have a compatible larger hard drive and my eeprom with an HDM 1.8 iso already made. About a week ago or so now I tried one of my other hard drives in an old Intel PC. I didn't know to generally not use Intel for this until after the fact. I tried and tried and the worst that happened is that the drive wouldn't lock.

So I decided to try again the next day. Powered the PC on with the drive plugged in as usual. But this time after the PC was only on for about less than 5 minutes, the entire PC, hard drive, probably the motherboard and who knows what else literally fried! I mean the drive let out loud crackles, pops, shot out sparks and smoke along with a foul smell! Luckily this was all connected to a hefty surge protector and nothing worse happened. I will not be powering up this machine again.

Babylon does not seem to be available anywhere online, or else i'd probably be interested. Thanks for the recommendation, though. :)

I've noticed I posted this topic in the wrong section. Oops. Next topic will be in the proper Xbox section.
