I recently picked up a PocketStation for next to nothing but have yet to find out about its merits. Are there any games that make good use of it or any fun games for the PocketStation itself? I remember having read that some non-Japanese releases have PocketStation support left inside, e.g. FF8 (?). Can anyone confirm that and are there any other games? Are there any PS2 games that support it or is that impossible anyway?
Metal Gear Solid: VR missions/integral was it called? that supports the pocketstation as well. Considering its an expanded PS1 memory card I d say PS2 support is slim and next to none, no idea about homebrew though - whatever it is though it would have to be handled in PS1 mode I guess, never seen the pocketstation libs in a PS2 SDK setup.
yes, i think you can use the feature with the pal version too. you can transfer your earned cars to other PocketStation owners through a downloadable application.

As for Tokimeki Memorial 2 it allows you to use the Pocket Station as an alarm clock. As you clear the game with different girls their respective voices are added to the list of voices you can upload to the pocket station. The memory on the Pocket Station allows for two "alarm" sounds. And yes it uses all of the 15 blocks for the alarm application and the two voices.
Well, on a PS2 it works just like a PS1 memory card. So if you play PS1 games on the PS2 you can save normally with it. Curiously, on the PS2 browser, the PocketStation has it own look-alike icon (on any region), just like any other media.
Yep, shows up as a PocketStation on my PAL PS2, which is ironic seeinga s the PocketStation was never released here I found the best use for the PocketStation is with Final Fantasy VIII where you can send your Chocobo out for walks to find rare items that you can transfer back into the game and use or sell. I warn you though, it's tedious! And there's one weapon that you can only find if you own a PocketStation, but it's a hard grind if you want it The PAL version of Ridge Racer Type 4 is also compatable I found, although I was quite disappointed that the PAL version of Crash Bandicoot III had the PocketStation support removed from the code SaGa Frontier II is the only other game I have that works with it - You can download a fun (For five minutes) game called Go Go Digger - I think that's what it's called anyway - And like Final Fantasy VIII you can transfer the items back into the main game to use or sell
Yes It does for every media on it. The HDD icon is based on the external HDD of early Japanese PS2 models
Never interested in a Pocketstation (other than for novelty reasons) until now. I actually would slap down some money for one with that uploaded to it.
The Japanese Wiki entry mentions support in three PS2 games: I'll get to try the Shinkansen one when I get back to Europe. And, by the way, I also found the Pocketstation manual online: direct download from Sony (Japanese)
No you can shove it in the Blu Ray drive. I might try Densha De Go 3 and Shinkansen when I go back to Japan...
i wonder what you could do with it in saga frontier 2 and LOM... does a pocketstation emu exist? does it emulate "roms"?
