PocketStation-supported PlayStation (and PS2!) Games: Information

Well, I got myself 2 PocketStations and had a look at the list of PocketStation supportable games:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PocketStation
    http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/PocketStation

However, according to someone else at a different thread on this site, the list is apparently "far from complete" and another person claims that there is "a LOT of Japanese games that support it".

Anyone want to add to the list? (See far below for PocketStation-supportable games that are not listed in either Wikipedias.

I don't care about the minigames, but I do care about what playing the minigames offer to the main game. For example, playing Final Fantasy VIII's minigame Chocobo World, lets you import rare items to your save file in the main FFVIII game. If it didn't, then I wouldn't bother playing it.

Note that the games which are bold and have links which lead to GameFAQs are the games I plan on playing (between now and when I die), so if you have in-depth PocketStation information on them, feel free to post here or at GameFAQs. If no link, then topic had been purged due to inactivity. For that matter, feel free to share any general information PocketStation related if you so wish.

That list is indeed VERY incomplete.

There are many many pocketstation compatible games in Japan, even games that're basicly designed to use the Pocketstation or just holds software for use on the pocketstation.

There's even a dungeon crawler/rpg maker like software for use on the PSX that lets you create simple pocketstation games.

It's a very "cute" piece of hardware.

Someone should probably start updating that Wiki article, but not only with listing of games, but also add the catalog/game ID for the games that supports it. (makes it much easier to look them up quickly)

I still need to get one of those things. But they are too damn expensive.

I would use them only for SFZ3, RRT4, and maybe some others i would buy from that list.

Yes, a few PlayStation 2 games also support the PocketStation, surprisingly enough. You'd expect the Japanese list to be a little more (not less) complete than the English one though...

I got 2 of mine for $20USD for both. They were just the PocketStations, no box, not that I care at that price... Boxed PocketStations are around $25-$50 these days.

Tobal 2 does, I think. I used to know a lot of the games but it is so long ago now.

Spyro 1 & 2 in Japanese form support it.

    Should've thought of this earlier.

To find out whether a game supports the PocketStation, simply look at the back part of the Japanese cover art.

    For example... Final Fantasy VIII.

Needless to say, if it has PocketStation functionality, then it'll be listed in the box at the bottom. Unless of course, a game has PocketStation functionality, but the cover art people forget to list it at the back...

Now all I need is a NTSC-J cover art repository for easy reference.

some other releases except J ones have the pocketstation support, too, althought it never released anywhere else officially. Final Fantasy being one example.

    Ahah!

More to the list of PocketStation-supportable games:

    The Legend of Dragoon
    Pocket Family: Happy Family Plan

Also, the back cover of Chocobo Collection shows the PocketStation symbol BUT the back covers of all of Chocobo Racing, Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon and Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon 2 does not show it. Perhaps a Chocobo Collection exclusive?

The PocketStation symbol on the back cover art of Chocobo Collection is only listed next to "Disc One", but the scan I have is bad quality, so I am unable to read the katakana to find out exactly what disc it is.

Note: I'm not going to look at the back cover art for every single game, just the ones I'm interested in. If anyone is more dedicated than me (probably not?), feel free to go ahead and complete wikipedia's incomplete lists.

FFVIII used it for it's card game I believe. I did have access to SFZ3 and if memory serves you could use it to beef up a fighter, which doesn't make sense unless you can use it to battle your friends fighter. Using it in game would just lead to an unfair advantage.

Chocobo Collection doesn't hold Chocobo Dungeon 1-2.

    Chocobo Collection is;

    Chocobo Racing
Chocobo Stallion (Which is the one with PocketStation support, if I remember correctly)
    and
Dice de Chocobo (Exclusive title to the Chocobo Collection)

Oops, I forgot about Dice and Stallion.

And yes, Chocobo Stallion is the one with PocketStation functionality.

I have a few ps1 protos which were pocketstation compatable. I am pretty sure the released versions were not. I didn't write them down so now I'm not sure of the titles but I think one was a monster rancher does that sound right?

There is a gameshark hack for Street Fighter Alpha 3 (US version. I always refer the japanese version as "Zero") to allow the Pocketstation to work.

Can't remember where I found the code though.
