http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-aj-70-bdm.html • Famicom™ compatible handheld console. • Play Japanese 8-bit Famicom™ games. • 2.5" LCD screen • Backlight function • Speaker & earphone jack • Can be connected to TV set via AV cable (included) • Battery consumption: Approx. 3 hours Doesn't look half bad but kinda expensive at $140
For that price you could just buy a GBA and run PocketNES. Leave it to Gametech to not show a picture of the actual product. I want one though...
the Gameking Handheld on that page looks pretty intersting, someone buy it! i can't afford anything for a long time, saving up my $$$
Yeh but pirate consoles should never be priced over $50, $70 for "handhelds". But for the quality put into it, a $90 price tag is more reasonable.
I'm not saying it's worth anything, it is however the best one. Gametech, while not a great manufacturer is better than an anonymous Chinese one where employees wear ski masks Chances are they use a Sharp or other Japanese LCD.
How do these things run with USA NES carts? I have a GameAxe which works ok with a converter, but the problem is the converter makes the cart stick out too much so if you jostle it, it loses contact and the screen gets all jibbley.
In defese of Gametech, my Neo Fami is a pretty neat little piece of hardware. It's been getting a lot of use lately. My only gripe is that it lacks standard NES controller ports, but hopefully someone will make an adaptor of some sort.
Do Gametech actually have a license from Nintendo? I wouldn't expect a Japanese company to get away with this kind of stuff, knowing Nintendo and their not liking anything.
If I recall correctlly, Gametech already produced the Famicom, under contract from Nintendo. When Nintendo stopped the production, they got the hardware rights.
No way, thats just a rumor. Nintendo has NOTHING to do with the FC2003 or Neo Fami units, they are quite mad as well but they can't do anything about it.
Am I the only one who's sick and tired of hearing about NeoFami? I'd swear people didn't know clones existed before that thing came along...
Why can't Nintendo do anything about it? It's their machine that's being cloned so surely they still have he copyrights to it. Yakumo
Technically their hardware isn't being cloned since it uses a FC-on-a-chip. Also, you can't copyright hardware and 90% of the Famicom is what is called discrete parts, so there is little to say Nintendo invented the hardware because in reality, Nintendo only developed two single chips and one of them, the CPU, is a clone of ANOTHER CPU. Clone hardware is A.O.K. Software is not because it's protected by copyright. Some hardware is protected by patents but 99% of the time, that's only relevant to the *design* of the hardware.
