Hi guys, We all know this rom doesn't work. However I have been playing around with the rom....... ****Pure theory I only tested it for 1 hour**** I was checking the NTSC rom in a hex editor & ucon64. Ucon64 reports there is 7mb of padding, so I opened the rom up in a hex editor & trimmed off 256kb the end (filled with FFFFs). basically shrinking the rom enough for the flash save. I then put it on my SD & into my ed2.5. I then tested the rom for over 1 hour, I did not experience any glitches, however I cannot test it fully as I don't have a pokemon gb cartridge. Now I cannot stress this enough, I haven't tested it fully & I've only tested the ntsc/usa version. If it works for you please post your results. Enjoy
If you could provide me with step by step instructions on how to edit the ROM then I could test it out with some of my Game Boy carts and report my results.
if you open the pokemon stadium 2 rom in any hexeditor and goto address 03ffc000, the select that to address 03ffbff0. then just hit delete & click save. it will shrink the flie size
Hi sanni yes it does. Its upto you how much you trim off the end, provided you don't trim into the rom data!
Having trouble with the Transfer Pak so I have only been able to play for approximately 5 minutes at a time because it doesn't like to sit snugly into either of my controllers. If the controller tilts even slightly I have to power cycle the N64. Tried shimming with folded bits of paper but it still a huge pain to get it to detect. For what it's worth, I haven't noticed any corrupted or exceptionally blurry graphics as of yet.
This is interesting, and it would be great to see the game work properly with the v2.0/2.5 Everdrive 64. Could you please post this on the official Everdrive forums: http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?board=4.0 as that way more ED64 users will see it and might be able to properly test it, plus maybe Krikzz (who makes the Everdrives) will be able to help if necessary. This is all the more interesting because the N64 scene has been quiet for a few months now, with little new, so hopefully this will provide some more interest around the 64-bit wonder.
This topic was mentioned in the Pokemon 2 thread over on the EverDrive 64 forums: https://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=5241.0 Basically, some of the others have looked into it and they don't think that trimming the ROM will solve the problem due to the way the mapper works.
