You can get some good deals at police and federal auctions. Some total junk too. A word of warning if you ever buy a car at a federal or police auction and this especially goes for the southwest. Get the car checked. A lot of these cars are from drug seizures so it is very important you get them completely checked out. There have been many cases where people that bought these cars have been pulled over and they find previously undiscovered drugs. I remember one case where over $100,000 was found while a vehicle was in the shop for some work. The government wanted that back real quick though.
