AG has always expressed an anti-piracy attitude. This is even displayed in the marketplace, which is available only to registered users. It's always been expressed that certain software shouldn't be listed unless genuine. I know of one person who was ridiculed for having the audacity to ask where he could obtain a copy of a certain SDK - granted the request was made elsewhere, but the point being it was deemed inappropriate.

Most other genuine, good sites go to great pains to express that illegal activity around software would mean the user would be banned. Just asking about where to obtain some material would - get you banned. I can see images of all sorts of software being made available and I'm not comfortable with there being no control over what's accepted.

By changing to this new policy AG does actually leave itself open for a fine legal line that most, if not all the users would be tempted to cross at some point.

There would be no way of policing firstly the material made available, the people who got to know about it (0th bit is leaky as hell) and ultimately the reputation that AG has for NOT being involved in such activity would simply disappear. Yes we all know it goes on, but that's down to the individual user and it's not put in front of you like a glittering temptation.

You also cannot state that nobody has faced legal action for activity revolving around torrent sites, that's simply untrue.

Isn't piracy one of the biggest uses of torrents? I think it's an okay idea, but it's sort of comparable to posting links to roms or something. I dunno.

This is not about torrents, it's simply about letting people spam for invites.

Personally, I would say no, but I put it to the vote.

Well, it looks like I need to change my mind, and say no. but if it was linking to torrent sites. Then piratgruppens forum, has an open forum thread which has links to torrent sites. But what was this thread about again ?
