I see some Intec 5.4 inch screens on Ebay that seem reasonably priced. Anyone tried one of these? For my move, we'll be living in a 1 bedroom apartment for some time, and if my wife picks up her hobby of watching shit TV then I'll need something to play PS2 stuff on. Worth picking up?

bit OT -or maybe way OT - but I use one of early airboard from SONY.
I picked it up from relatives place last time i was in tokyo as she just got herself new version.

it's wireless lcd monitor with base that accepts RF and composite video.
it's not big screen - appx. equivalant to 13" - but does the job when missus is watching sitcom on our PDP and sis-in-law is watching video on our guest TV...

one good thing is I can take the screen nextto me when I play - just insure my wireless pad is facing the receiver side as it's not RF... otherwise I could've take both screen and pad to another room... heh!

    cheers

think it's bit common in Japan no?
it has built-in battery that last around 2-3 hours and when you put it on the base it recharges... also it has memory stick slot at the side so you can use it as very expensive slide photo frame...

just checked and its model# is IDT-LF1 from SONY
it isn't portable as you intended - it's tied to its base after all and it runs on the main

I will see if I can take photo of it...

    cheers

Thanks... I think that's actually a bit larger than what I'm looking for. I'm thinking of one of those screens that mounts on the PS2. :) Considering I've not touched any of my GBA Famicom mini sets 2 & 3, I think a month of those won't be too bad.

yes it's widescreen with speakers at side and the battery weighs quite a bit. I usually leave the thing on its base/cradle and hook up one my spare DC/Saturn when missus is using main one... bit of hassle with Saturn as I have to point the wireless pad to the receiver...
wish someone make RF wireless for old consoles like Saturn, DC and etc...

    cheers

    GaijinPunch,
I use my 10" 16:9 LCD portable DVD player (about $600 US dollars) with AV inputs as an alternate gaming monitor. It has about the same foot print as my PS2, so it sets on top of the PS2 very nicely. When not in use it folds up like a laptop computers and tucks away. Plus it's a great traveling DVD player with about 3 hours view time on a single battery charge.

I've used it for my Saturn, Gamecube, PS2 and SFC. When I get home I'll post a link or two that shows you how to set up a portable DVD player for gaming. One interesting note, supports tate mode games very nicely! :smt023

I should also add that the 8" models are quite a bit cheaper and you may find that to be a more affordable solution. example

Found the link to hook it all up. Link
Having a set of those Female-to-Female Cable Connectors is one key, the other is to make sure the portable DVD player accepts audio and video input.

Cool info Evilmess.... that's actually not a bad idea, or price for that matter. I could actually use the DVD player for SOMETHING I'm sure... maybe watch a flick out by the pool, or in the can. Should probably give Akihabara a go and see if there's anything worth while there... although I'd have to go the extra mile and get it region free. ;)

Or, just buy a USB Video input card. There pretty cheap, only about £30 from hauppage, although its a pretty poor picture quality. Probably better for if you have a laptop, as it'll work just as well with a desktop but i doubt you'll have space for a desktop in the appartment
