I'm looking for a portable Famiclone with a 60pin cartridge slot. Very important are the controls and the quality of the screen, because these are often bad. An AV output would be nice, too.

I spotted a few clones on eBay, but I'm not sure about the quality.

    FC Mobile:
It's available quite cheap, but I don't like the PlayStation d-pad.

    Game Axe:
old, big and poor screen quality.

    PocketFami:
This is the most interesting device imo.

I'm quite sure there are a lot more portable Famiclones available. If you know more, please post it here.

I got my friend a PocketFami for Christmas. It had audio issues right out of the box. Sound was crunchy, like it had a blown speaker... only it was crunchy through headphones as well.

He actually gave it back to me a week later. What a jerk.

I had the game axe, don't buy it, it sucks ! As mentioned the screen quality is very poor, not to mention the sound and the general feeling of the console. Mine fell from the table and broke into pieces... I'm going to check out the PocketFami and see if it is any better than the game axe.

ive got a pocket fami no complaints only used it with famicom carts though i do have the 76 pin adapter, good picture/colour and good sound. doesnt feel cheap but a bit light for its size (not a bad thing). the d-pad has a larger throw than most standard d-pads but this is marginal and is responsive from what i remember (you dont feel it has caused a death when playing action/shooting games). haven't played it in a while so i'll fire it up if anyone wants a more in depth review.

The PocketFami is hard to find unfortunately. Does anyone know a webshop which sells it?

The one I got was used and cost $30 or so. You might try Super Potato Online.

I know this thread is old, but I still do not own a portable Famiclone. Originally I wanted to buy the PocketFami, but I haven't found it for a fair price and left it.

A few more portable Famicoms are available since I started the thread and therefore I decided to push this thread.

I would be happy if anyone could share its experience with portable Famiclones. Again, I'm not interested in a portable NES. The NES cartridges aren't portable imo.

I have one (not listed here). The audio is not really close. It looks like a Hamy, but is famicom colors.

I have heard good things about the Hamy and it is a good price. I would look at videos of gameplay first though, if possible, just to make sure everything looks & sounds good.

found a site which covers lots of portable Famiclones. In Japanese though:
    http://www.geocities.jp/pachimono_fc/info_371.html

@ blotter12: Thanks for your feedback. Currently I also tend to get the Hamy. The price is fair, it has turbo fire buttons and it looks very portable. However I'm not sure if gameplay videos are helpful. A lot of people do not know how to proper capture video from an lcd screen and it's difficult to compare videos of different people. I would like to hear the opinion of a collector.

found another portable Famiclone, the AEF-390. Does look like these PXP or PVP consoles, but this model does have a standard cartridge connector:
