After getting my tax money this year, I've considered getting myself a few things, and I always liked the idea of the FC Mobiles that we carry at work, but after taking one off the shelf and trying it out I hated it due to the screen which crappy, and the audio sounded terrible on the game I was playing.

I also like how on the box it says it's compatible with all NES games. How am I suppose to play my duck hunt on the go?? =P

Anyways to get to the point has any company really put out a portable NES that's as close to the real thing as possible?

You mean GP2x, much better then the GP32 IMHO. So far (at least in my experience) emulation on the GP2X beats anything else in mobile emulation. It rivals the desktop emulators.

Yeah what Kevin said, if you're looking for a portable famicom for actual game playing purposes, get a GP 32 or run emulators on a psp, ds, or other handheld. The portable famicom handhelds out there (FC Mobile, Game theory admiral, Game Axe, etc.) are all made by pirate companies and generally show it in terms of quality. They're fun to collect but to actually play games on you're better of with a more mainstream handheld.

Either a PSP or a laptop would be your best bet, probably.

There is still something nice about getting a portable out and plugging cartridges in it, have an emulator means you don't really appreicate the games, even the pirate famicom portables do have their spark of magic and to be honest you won't really notice the difference on a lot of games.
