possible Nintendo 3ds mod??

Alright guys, this a somewhat of a pointless mod and something that'll most likely amaze me. So the mod i was thinking about putting a regular 3ds into an original ds case, I did measurements and looked at images of the original ds since I haven't owned one since '04, and what I seen is some customizing to the case and or creating an identical case that looks likes the original ds shell but fits the 3ds comfortably. Again its just something that's really something that'll be for maybe just my benefit or some other people that'll think its a cool project to pass time. i'm in the middle of drawing and measuring again (ALWAYS MEASURE TWICE), However I'm using measurements of the original ds thats already on the internet and I have one regular 3ds for the mod. Please let me know what you think of it. im in the middle of creating the design and everything, basically step one, not complete

I know this may sound dumb, but does anyone have a broken ds phat that they could give me or trade?

 

If the internet has taught me anything it's that anything can fit into anything else regardless of the laws of physics, but I can't really imagine it would be too difficult there is extra room in the original DS to accommodate any changes you have to make, , just lining the original DS up to a 3DS XL, I would imagine with a bit of work you could even fit an XL in there, they are pretty much the same size

 

Tremendous waste of money and hardware.

 

It's not exactly a rare piece of priceless hardware, if he feels like wasting his money it's upto him, but if it was done to a high standard I think it would look quite cool

 

Have you SEEN what the original DS looks like?

 

YES i know how an original ds looks like, i sort of like it

 

You may be limited by the lcd flex cable bing too short

 

i was going too see all the shortcomings in the original ds shell, and TRY to recreate a similar case for 3ds if the original shell can't fit

 

if I recall, the original Phat DS have an issue with the broken hinge over time. you could find plenty of "broken" phat DS on ebay.

 

i haven't own a ds phat since it came out and it got stolen pretty fricken fast. so i don't know nothing about the hinge.

 

i have two ds's chunkies, one a metallic blue upper and the other, silver/dull grey, both black lowers, had them both since relz date.
the hinges are 101% fine and show NO signs of wear.
if somebody is breaking them too easily (and web searches back that up) they shouldn't be near tech.
the hinges on those things are very similar to the gba hinge, except gba hinges are more robust.

the dsl on the other hand, felt like a cheap piece shit, especially where the hinge is concerned. the first ds was the best build quality by far, same for the psp series, the first one was quite a tank, now we get confetti for tech.
not damaged any to date, been super-careful not to.

i couldn't give a piss about 3ds, but i'm not comfortable with the idea of GUTTING a ds chunky for the sake of housing n3d parts/replacements.

well, i was looking for a broken ds phat like screen busted for speakers. cause if it's broken, might as well do something with it. a working one, no way
