I was reading on xbox hacker.net that it is possible to swap a cpu between motherboards as long as you swap them in pairs with the NAND. So I was wondering if it was possible to do this with a dev CPU and Nand to a retail motherboard?

Also btw I have found various modders that do this process if any one is intrested...

    Thanks LEo

Its probally more easy to find and buy a HDMI dev/debug then doing this procedure.... :)

Yes, if you had an infinite supply of money :p

I'm actually the friend with the messed up GPU, it makes green blocks on the screen, I fixed it once and its doing it again... Leo told me it might be possible just to swap the nand and the CPU from the dieing kit to a fresh new hdmi motherboard. I don't have any money and I'm in dire need to get this thing working again. I have a HDMI xbox 360 next to me right now, if this works I'd like to know.

There might be some issues related to different NAND sizes (retail NAND is 128Mbit and debug NAND is 512Mbit). The NAND pinout is the same, but I seem to remember that the motherboard somehow would require a minor mod...

I think that would be ok, but the proof is in the pudding...

I had a retail unit that did exactly the same thing and it related to the unit overheating and lifting the GPU off the circuit board. Had it been a debug kit I would have been spitting fire at Microsoft, but as it was a lowly retail I tried the towel trick. It worked for 15mins and then went back to it's old ways.

You need to resolder the GPU.

It's possible, believe me, but you need some expensive tools .

i did that on a 360 (retail one) and it now work without a glitch.

Of course, if you don't have the required tools, don't even try.

You won't be able to resolder the GPU.

Hey guys, listen this is no longer an Idea. I'm comming to the end of my patients. I have had so many problems with my kit. I recieved one busted and then I recieved a second one in worse condition then the first. This puppy has GPU problems, missing 7 case screws, bent plastic, Window mod for dvd drive, green mobo LEDS and some new fan that doesn't do anything then the original. I need some ideas. What should I do with my kit? I mean could the nand and the cpu swap really work? would it work to swap it to a retail HDMI motherboard? I'm actually concidering these options. I'm so angry that I have been taken advantage of and sent poor quality hardware. Its very frustrating since I have been dealing with replacements and repairs for months on end. I need a solution, somebody please let me know if this is possible or list me some options.

Yes swapping both the cpu and nands would most likely turn your retail into a debug.

I am not sure this would work on a jasper unit though but those are not sold yet.
