Possible to get VGA out from PSOne/PSX?

I tried to Google this but all I can find are VGA to PSOne LCD, not from PSX/PSOne console to VGA.
There are VGA out adapter for PS2/3 but I'm not paying $20 if I can make one cheaper. I found a wiring diagram for PS2 video port to VGA, would that work for PSX or would I need to do something else?



I also noticed on many PS2 VGA mod, some people wired directly off the chip on PS2 mobo to get H and V sync rather than relying on chips for sync separating.
