Is it possible to mod the Genesis 3 console so you can get RGB and stereo to work from the multi A/V socket so i can plug a Mega Drive 2 scart cable in and get stereo sound plus RGB display signal on my CRT TV??
The model 3 has the same plug as model 2 Genesis. Use the RGB SCART cable on it with no problems I can think of. Should have stereo out too. Someone else care to confirm or bust my claim since I'm US and don't have RGB stuff here? EDIT: I've found out that the plugs are different and the Genny only puts out mono by default. Takes some skilled soldering for the stereo mod. Still unsure of the RGB mod. More research needed...
Model 3 has mono out (audio is on MONO pin) and I am pretty damned sure it has RGB out. You can mod for stereo as I read a while ago. Have a look at Sega-16 they covered it there.
Genesis 3 was also exclusively released with the 60hz English setting. You have to mod for PAL or Japan locked games.
So it will output RGB (for scart) out of the box, no mod need?. Any ideas if its as straight forward as picking the stereo channel output from the board and taking it to either pin 9 or 8 on the mulit A/V socket (which ever it is)? I didnt even know you could get 32X compatibility back, does this include the games that dont work with the console as well??.......how many games actually didnt work with the console? And does the Genesis 3 work with flash cart like the Mega EverDrive? I take it these can be 50/60hz and Lang modded like the other 2 consoles, is there any indepth guides for that as all im seeing is MD1 & 2 which i know how to do? Thanks for the help so far, now i just need to score a Genesis 3, thought they are cheap on eBay form the US the shipping kills the prices to post to the UK...all most 3 times as much as their asking for the system itself. Im even willing to swap for one of my 60hz mega drive 2's!!!
Golden rule with consoles is if 32X works or can be modded, there's a way to get RGB. Required for the 32X to operate.
