  1. Not the most amazing deal, but still... I got my Final Fantasy Tactics Gameboy Adv SP boxset for £179 , plus the FFTAdv players guide book, all in Japanese, with a FFT trading card sealed in the back. Mmm, pearl white Sp :smt023 Only 50,000 produced.

It's been out of its box twice, to drain the battery and show ppl. They've been going on ebay for about £350+, without the guide book, and in used condition.

Cool. That'll pay for my lung transplant op in a few years. Or I could just stop smoking.....

    Got a ps2 at a pawn shop $19 "broken" .

opened it and pulled out a jammed upside down dvd.

    Working ps2!

    :)

  9. A friend's brother gave me his 'broken' Gamecube that wouldn't read discs. I did the melted pen trick to take out the screws, gave everything a good blast with compressed air, and now I have a free, 100% working gamecube. No hookups or controllers (had to borrow from a friend to test it out) but those will still cost less than half of the unit price.

    A WINNER IS ME!

Ouch, you guys shouldn't post deals on "I ripped this one ignorant kids off" stories. . .that's just terrible! Have you no ethics?! WHAHAHA. . .okay. . .I'm better now. . .so yeah, my story is better than everyone's!

Back at SEGA, they had the fabled "SEGA Sale". . .this was basically SEGA clearing out their warehouse in downtown SF. If you have ever lived in SF (or NY for that matter) you know that downtown costs are so much that it's cheaper in the long run to get rid of stuff in storage than to keep it around. . .well, we all know that major chains sent unsellable stuff back to SEGA after they denounce their own products. . .so, at this sale, they had many many Dreamcast games (reason I'm selling those for cheap) for a few bucks. . .employees were going nuts for those. . .whatever. . .I know better. . .I let them do their thing. . .I had better things to look out for.

So I peek around (my good buddy from SEGA PC was helping set stuff up) and I chatted with him about the good stuff. . .I asked some HR girls that were running the show if there was a limit and they told me that everything must go so I continued to peep around. . .SEGA CDXs for $10 each. . .stacks of them. . .boxes full of Saturn games. . .most sucky and worthless. . .however. . .what's this I see? A giant box full of Sonic Jams for $1 each. . .and another box full of Saturn Bombermans for the same price; Shining Force IIIs. . .a sealed Panzer Dragoon Saga (yeah that's right, a dollar!). . .oh? Boxed Saturns for $5 each? Sure! Pile 'em on! Frontloading SEGA CDs? Yeah, I better take some. . .the only things they didn't have were SMS games and systems. . .everything else that you could think of from SEGA was there though (even some SNES games for some reason)! Needless to say, I walked out of there with $1500 worth of goods and huge grin on my face. . .SEGA was happy that I would be buying all of their crap, and I was happy that I knew how much it was worth to eBayers. So, there is my story. . .

Oh, and another similar note is before I worked at SEGA, I found this online pawn shop that had 8 X'EYEs that I purchased for $5 each! Man, I loved that deal. . .

Hmm...I don't have a lot of great deals to brag about. My happiest was probably picking up my PCFX for about 4000 yen at Sofmap. I was also happy to find a friend willing to sell me his Jaguar with 4 games and extra controller and multitap for $50 a couple years ago. My biggest regret, passing up Magic Knights Rayearth for $30 at EB about 10 years ago. I finally got it of Ebay for $30, 10 years later. ;)

Well my deals can't compare; but here goes. Alot of recent deals I can think of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 DC for 8.99 CAD (Canadian),
Gitaroo Man Brand New PS2 for 14.99 CAD. Valkyrie Profile 14.99 CAD NEW. Nothing else really stands out in my mind.

Nothing free really unless I count my Gamecube which my girlfriend bought me for my b-day.

    this would

this would me my luck in 1999, bought 2 hi saturn navi units in boxes both complete with screen listed at yahoo japan as "junk" since seller confirmed as non working, bought it for 10,000 yens each. then once arrived i found it to be working just great, apparently both machines were set to tv mode so whatever discs you put in the tray it wont read, a simple switch back solves the problem :smt023
then Sold to a UK buyer for nearly 2000 quid each shortly afterwards.

    This ones a good un,
Basically i was doing xmas shopping and was in gamestation looking for an xmas pressie for my brother..When i noticed a deal, Buy *ANY* game and get one of these latest releases for 19.99.
I thought heh il see if they really mean ANY. I went up to the cashier with a 50p Megacd game (road avenger, ino its crap but hey, 50p) I then said if i buy this i can get True Crime for 19.99? He said uhh i dont think so, so i pointed at the sign, and he asked his manager..the manager said yeah thats right any game!

So i got a brand new True crime for ps2 only a few weeks after release and road avenger for 20.50, which is cheaper than they were selling second hand copys of true crime!

I thought that was a good deal! No suprise the next week the offer had changed lol

That actually reminds me of the time when Gamestop or EB or whatever had a deal going on where if you traded in any three games for PS2, you can get a new release for $10. . .well, at the time I was at Sony and they give people boxes of unsold Jampacks demo discs. . .so, we gathered up about 15 Jampacks apiece and took them down there and got tons of games for $10 :)

And yeah, they changed the policy the next week, too! HAHA

Before eBay went all nuts about prototypes, I found an ex-Sega employee and bought 14 Japanese MegaCD protos off him for about $300. Including a couple of unreleased games (Alpha Fighter and what it became, Burning Fists -- both never came out AFAIK), Captain Tsubasa, and a couple of Sonic protos including the US Sonic w/Japanese music (910 I think?).

The shitty part is I only have two of them left after going unemployed in the dot-com crash. :smt022 Mega Schwarzchild and Detonator Orgun are all I got left. I did get a 500% return on Tsubasa, though!

Lets hope you made backups. I want to kill that bastard seller who broke up the MCD collection in the first place. Weren't there 100+ protos? The original lot of them was like $400, that dick.

Why wasn't I invited to Sega's blowout sale? I live close enough.. :D
