Seemed like a normal launch to me here. Obviously sellers can't vary MSRP in the states, so system pricing has been unchanged. There were probably 40 people at the midnight launch at my Gamestop when I bought it, it looked like Revenge of the Nerds. I've seen a few people with them on the DC Metro system, but I've yet to get a StreetPass ping. Not trying very hard though, I'm usually playing PokeWhite on mine. I still don't find the price at all outrageous, just a little more than a DSiXL, but for much more capable hardware.
I just don't want to use a DS that doesn't have PictoChat. I have so many memories of using that little app... mostly of male genitalia but memories none the less.
I only used PictoChat once or twice that I can recall. That said, why the 3DS doesn't have Online PictoChat for use with the people on your friends list is beyond me (or anyway of communicating with those on your friends list).

Quite a lot of posters and stands etc but I've not come across a single demo unit which is disappointing.
