Its nice to be able to talk to others about their political opinions and since this is the "Off Topic" area I thought it was a proper place....how can any of us learn if we don't listen to the opinions of others no matter how much they differ from our own.....everyone feel free to vent and just remember we're all friends here and all opinions are of equal importance.....
I'm about as liberal as they come. I'm from the bible belt (Texas). I never understood how I went to a Christian high school, and the Christians on the far right really turned me off. I'm still religious, just less organized about it. Anyways, this is part of the reason why I left Texas. My college town (Austin) was fantastic, but I still felt the need to leave. Other weird things about me: -I hate guns -I don't believe in capital punishment -I think trickle-down economics is BS -I don't eat meat (just thought I'd throw that in there) With my aforementioned views, one could easily tell that I won't be voting for Bush anytime soon. But as I've stated, I've grown up around nothing but gun-toting, right wingers. Most of my friends from back home are, and we've learned to live with each other.
somones sane Thats the most sane thing I've heard from somone coming from a religous area. As for my views. i mostly stay out of politics, can't wait for Michael moores new movie though.
Re: somones sane Same here michael moore is tha man, bowling before columbine was great and stupid white men even better. But the average american won't see his movies so nothing much will change :smt009
I liked his bowling for columbine video, haven't seen the others though. As far as political views. Unlike most other people, I can change.
Politics Politics is a joke these days. In Canada the Liberal party was involved in a major sponsorship scandal and the Ontario provincial Liberals thought it would be a good idea to put taxes on EVERYTHING and make us pay an extra few hundred dollars for healthcare even for the people who never really need it. Low and behold they aren't too popular right now but on the PC side we have the have the fundamentalist Stephen Harper. On the left we have the NDP who has some interesting ideas but no real explanations of where they will get the money for them. At this point the just want to increase the taxes on rich people. Oh we can't forget the Quebec separatists who can't win because they only have representatives in Quebec. Then theres the other useless parties like the Green Party and the Communist Party etc. I couldn't give less of a damn about politics at this point because nothing seems to change except for taxes no matter who is elected.
Metal. I read somewhere that one time the healthcare system was so bad that there was a waiting list for seriously injured people needing surgery but they literally had to wait for their 'turn'. Have you heard of anything like that up there?
Kill everyone in jail meaning more space for houses in london and less money spent on criminals... Then i think we should start by taking away driving licenses from every single bad driver out there... put nice bigger tax on cigs and alcohol and take away any free healthcare service for excess drinking or smoking related problems... oh then resurface all the roads in london to make them all skating fit! ah if only i were prime minister... :smt043
Healthcare Yeah the wait for medical attention is pretty bad. Many people die on the wiating list for organs etc.
Mexican Public Healthcare also sucks.... tho independent hospitals are really good, better than american hospitals and way cheaper... if you break a bone you pay like 100 bucks... but here in american you pay like 1500 bucks... :toimonster:
American hospitals are a joke. If you go to a run of the mill hopsital... even the emergency room, you have to wait in line. Japanese hospitals are worse... the whole medical profession is just barely above 3rd world quality... in fact, it's worse. I've can say I've been in a Japanaese and Thai hospital... Thai wins hands down! I got stitches in Mexico when I was a young tike... shit stitching job... I don't recommend Mexico as either... at least not the hospital I went to.
Here in Brazil, public hospitals are a joke: There aren't enough doctors, there aren't enough medicine, there aren't enought beds, and you must wait in line... Public schools are also garbage: bad teachers, drugs, crimes... Of course, if you can pay, private schools and hospitals are another world... It's so sad to see more money going to the FMI each year than for the public education and health... PD
Heh. Well around the world, if you have money then you'll get the best treatment that is the same here in America. Right now though the US is experiencing a small crisis on doctors closing up shop because of high malpractice insurance. The doctors are blaming the insurance companies and trial lawyers who sue the doctors and the insurance companies are blaming the doctors for not doing a good job. I blame both really. I blame the bad doctors for cheating in medical school and the insurance companies for being greedy bastards. People who don't have health insurance can still get help over here but not as long as someone who has health insurance. A lil story about my experience in a hospital was when I had appendicitis (burst appendix) and had it to be taken out. I was the worst case scenario because I found out 5 days later I had pain around my abdomen and the appendix had already burst. They had to cut me up and suck out all the digestive fluid. I was bedridden for 2weeks then started to recover my digestive system so that I could start eating food (they fed me thru an IV the whole time). Well anyway the bill was to huge and my family was having some money trouble. We ended up declaring bankruptcy and we put in the hospital bills because we couldn't afford it. The hospital is breaking bankruptcy law by still telling us to pay up.
about the hospitals in Denmark they are some of the best in the world (no joke) the politicians are a joke and quite right winged at the moment me ? i am a humanist and will vote for the party that is most humanistic. and because of the politicians the hospitals is suffering badly . and well fuck the government they are stupid and their english is even worse than my english is (just listen to anders.fuck-Fogh Rasmussen when he was with George W Bush junior his english is hillarious) Anders Fogh Rasmussen is our prime minister in DK and his english is fuckedup but i am a humanist and not supporting this government we are having at the moment.
Well, as shitty as it is, malpractice is the ultimate check-and-balance, and with all the money doctors make, they should shut the fuck up and pay. If anyone thinks otherwise, I invite anyone to go to a country where the word "malpractice" doesn't exist (Japan is the only one that I know of) and see what happens. My wife has had two completely different diagnosis from two doctors on the same ailment. :smt017 Her friend had an operation go awry and the person got even worse than before the operation. According to my wife, "The doctor had a friend in the government, so she couldn't sue him." The last think you want is an untouchable doctor. The sad part? Japanese think their medical system is fantastic. A buddy of mine whose father is Japanese, but is a doctor in the states, told his son (who lives in Tokyo now) don't ever go to a Japanese hospital for an operation.
I heard Japanese medical system is POS. Thats why you should have friends in different professions . :smt033 so that they give you a hook up. OVERALL. If you have money then you get the right treatments. SO I think that we all need good accountants :smt033 .
I make more money than Japanese people my age... and as I don't have kids, I probably have way more spending freedom than people in their 40s. I still have the crappy doctors. The good doctors won't take Japanese insurance -- you have to get some US based stuff that will reimburse you. Otherwise, he's just a Japanese doctor. (Run for the hills).
