I know nothing about the Nek Geo but have just won one on Yahoo Auctions without any PSU. The bottom of the console says to use only a PRO-POW2 adaptor but all the ones I see for sale say pro-pow on them minus the 2. Can these PSUs be used on my Neo Geo AES?
Your best bet is to check the adapter rating that is etched on the console itself/on the rating sticker underneath. IIRC, some AES systems used a 5v supply and some used a 9v supply, so that could be what the ProPow/ProPow2 deal is. But yeah, check the ratings and polarity, then you can use whatever adapter you want, as long as it matches.
According to here they are are the same: http://www.robwebb1.plus.com/neogeo/ng.htm Looks like there is a pro-pow3 that is different
Ah, yes they do seem to be the same. just a shame there's none for sale at the moment. I'll ordered one of these from Amazon. It has the same output as the PRO-POW and PRO-POW2 at 5v 3amps. Actually this one says 3.0 amps but that's the same as far as I know.
You are probably going to need to do some splicing when that power supply arrives. Neo-Geo power supplies are center negative. The one in the picture looks like it's center positive.
