I'm sorry, but somehow I dont think of Mr. Jobs as a crack expert on computer architecture, and if he were one, he jumped to conclusions a bit fast, don't you think? It sounds a bit childish to me to say that it will be "even less effective".
I know, but it doesnt help his image with regard to credibility. Ah well, the traditional left-wing liberal ethnic communist clientele will buy it anyway
but he made steve wozniak reduce the chips in the breakout arcade unit from 75 to 30 ics :death so he knows at least his way in the buissness maybe he downs know every wire or transistor in the powerpc but he has a hand for clever buissness decsisions (pixar anyone ?) and the other thing is who knows in which consense he said this
Well after this quote the article does talk about a possible Living room device by Apple and Intel to try and compete with the Power (power derivated) family of consoles that are coming out. However, that did seem like pure speculation from the author.
You could not compare a videogame system and a computer. Also, you have to remember that the CELL processor seems to be engineered with multimedia systems in mind (low power consumption) not for pure performance...
OT Which they didn`t end up using, final design had 100 Jobs screwed Wozniak over on the ayment for the work too, bastard
and why do sony and microsoft now try to sell me the super duper multimedia machine with the same functions my pc has, if 2 machines can do the exact same thing why shouldnt one compare them ?
I don't like intel they are over rated and over priced like most MAc stuff anyways. AMD is faster and cheaper in most situations. I switched to AMD and my next machine will have a dual core or more in the next year from AMD.
I think AMD is miles beyond Intel, but that's just my opinion. My current system has an AMD Athlon64 3000+
got a normal 3000+ but i like it too and the fact that amd has a fab in my city (dresden) is a nice addon =)
