Hi I just have a quick silly little question... I just got hold of a jap n64, but it came without the transformer... Am I OK to use my UK PAL n64's transformer to power it? I assume it would be OK seeing as AFAIK the internal voltage of an n64 is DC, hence the 50/60hz issue is dealt with by the tansformer... However I thought I'd better check rather than just assume, as I don't want my new toy going up in smoke before I even get to play with it... I was also wondering whats the worst thing that can happen if I plug the 60hz video output into a TV that MIGHT not be 60hz compat... the TV is old and literally on its last legs, I am getting a new one soon so I am not too bothered if totally craps out on me as a result of trying, so long doing so poses no risk to the console itself (which again I'm assuming it wouldn't, but would rather know for sure...) Much obliged for any help/info, The German...
With the way nintendo builds things. Yes I think a Euro Power box should work on a japanese n64. As for video signal, nothing will happen hardware wise. You just will recieve a picture that does not come out right.
Yes, you can use a UK PAL N64's transformer to power a JPN N64. I do. Your N64 will be fine, and I would very surprised if your TV didn't survive this little test.... CF
cool =D thanks for the quick replies guy, I'll try it right now and let you know how it goes... thanks again The German...
Success Schweet =D it works just fine, as does the tv, which is nice... unfortunately, the only game I have for it is so far the only n64 game that seems to be online only =/ (AFAIK), some japanese game called Morita Shogi with a built in modem, probably a 14.4kbps judging by the undemanding graphics the game demands (its a board game)... When I turn it on, the only button I can press at the start menu is A, which brings up a message in japanese which I assume to be "cannot connect/trying to connect/no dial tone", and at which point no button causes any reaction whatsoever... oh well =| I was also wondering if it's safe to put my PAL RAM expansion pak into this n64, I'm guessing it blatantly is, but again I'd rather be safe than sorry... On a side note sorry far taking so long to get back to you, but I was also trying out this NES clone I just got that looks like a PS2 (about 1:3 / 1:2 actual size)... Its pretty cool, came with 2 original PSX [no analogue stick/rumble pak] look-alike control pads and a little light gun... It's also got a bunch of classic NES games built onto the board, although the 76 it claims to have are about 12 full games cut into a bunch of different levels, ie Track & Field becomes 6 different games in the list, like javelin, archery, long jump, etc etc, Mario becomes a bunch of new unheard of mario games cutting the game into its different worlds... Its definately the coolest looking nes clone I've seen... anyway, thanks again for the help/advice people The German
As far as I know all expansion and jumper packs are the same. IIRC the european one even has japanese text on it too. It should be totally fine doing this.
