I booted up the Gameshark but unlike most of the other N64 games it does not show the cartridge save in the memory manager list. I read somewhere that the MM save is too large to be copied to a controller pack like other N64 games. Is there any truth to this or is there a way to backup the game save from a retail MM cart?

Does your gameshark have a parallel port?
My DrV64 has the option to dump save ram from carts over parallel, I'm guessing the game sharks (that have the port) can too

You could get a retrode and the N64 addon cart for it.

Ask sanni :) He made a very very good DIY project for reading and writing N64 and SNES savegames and ROMs
(URL to his project (in German))

I know - a little bit off topic. But it came to my mind once I read the heading)

It does have the port, is there some sort of special software I need?

Wow that thing looks amazing but doesn't seem simple to make myself.
