Cool that it's funded, but the campaign uses too much flowery "it's all in the name of preservation" language without giving any details. Who owns this, why is it costing $1000? Is this being purchased from someone for that price or does someone own it and they want that much because that's what they originally paid, or is this a fraction of what the owner originally paid? Just rubs me the wrong way since the whole text is what I'd expect from something like Frank's game history preservation org, but this probably (again, fundraiser doesn't link to anything so I have no clue) is just trying to scrape together funds to pry the disc off of some collector? I dunno, something about it just annoys me.
I was thinking the same thing. The way it's worded makes it seem as though the build is already in their hands, and they're simply valuing it at $1000. Oh well, it reached its goal so I guess we'll see if they deliver or not.
I believe the current owner of the disc paid around $1400, so maybe that is the reason of the current funding value? I'm guessing the value comes from the selling prices of the disc(s), this was from the for sale thread: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17Kz1To5z97SPex_OZ01Sblgb1zc8-5r-O6FlUJDX4PA/edit#gid=0
