Whats all this business about pressed discs? What the different bwt a pressed disc of let say ps2 and any other disc? and is the the disc player different too? :icon_bigg
A pressed disc is a manufactured disc as opposed to a CD-R. Pressed discs are *usually* authorized copies, but can sometimes be bootleg/pirate copies (such as HK silvers). -hl718
About DVD9 I would recommend to search for "Parallel Track Path" and "Opposite Track Path" and its limitations ;-)
Wow, thanks for posting that! After finding out how the PS1 protection works I've been looking for info on DVD-gen protection but haven't found any up until now, very interesting!
Wow DevL, Nice work and very interesting, Two questions: This magic disc that I have heard of before is that some sort game cracker software or something? With the information provided in your post does that mean some people can actually program the ps2 without the TOOL? The ps2 machine is so old I don't know why sony would care what anyone does with now, except to the fact people maybe still making games for it and paying sony some type of fee. Anyway your post and others here are very interesting special the ones coming from members like your self that seem very professional.:icon_bigg THANKS!;-)
thanks, nice to hear that the info can help Swap Magic disk can help or there is an exploit to run a homebrew with PSX official game. I would prefer to check this ways if it would be ok ( you would not be able to do quick runs etc) , then TEST console and the last one - TOOL. so there are plenty of ways to start coding. but we are starting to balance out of the forum rules
Ok DevL, Does magic disc mean you don't need to mod? I'am now putting my ps2 39001 back together, I had it apart just to get a good look at the chips cause I'd never seen the inside of 1 before. It was an interesting peak. Another person here thought I should use a emulator on a pc if I don't find the kit or if I don't want to mod my ps2 and wanted to program ps2 or maybe play around I guess ie homebrew. DevL, You must be a hard worker in this stuff that subject you posted is quite indepth! ;-)
it is still my hobby but I like it at some point you can try to start using emulators as well , I am not pretty sure how good they are due to the fact I own several playstations 2 boxes. Some time ago pscx helped me greatly About your scenario with ps2 and magic - mostly all answers you can get also at http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php?t=9021 (just to do not repeat that info again but here) This site as someone gave already is the best for first steps and more, it even has several demos and its sources Start reading from here http://ps2dev.org/PS2/Tutorials and if you would still have any questions - welcome
